Not really; I just held the paint can close to the area between the boosters and swept quickly.

That's a really fun kit. I'd like to build another painted as though it was iced over on the tanks. Keep up the good work.

The details are on the spacecraft section now and I'm working on paint. Sadly during the second coat of white, the paint came out all globby. So now I'm waiting around for that to cure so I can sand it smooth and continue painting.

Similar thing happened on my first coat of white on my Estes Mercury redstone. Had to sand smooth and am waiting for a good weather day to try again.

So I came home from my trip, sanded the white down, and cleaned the white spray nozzle with MEK. Yay! Then I sprayed the white and it came out globby again. Sigh.

So while sulking over that, I decided to take care of the engine bells. I painted the bottom of the boosters and the outside of the bells silver first. After that dried, I placed the engine bell groupings on the boosters and put two drops of CA in the middle of each bell. Then I hit the CA with kicker, and put in one more drop per bell. After that, the inside of the bells got painted copper. Looks good.

I haven't been neglecting the build. Between being gone for work and ordering a new can of classic white, I've just had to be patient. Sadly, the new can of white globbed the paint as well. Very frustrating. However, I was able to sand the paint smooth and the result was more than good enough for me. I ended up going with the stock scheme as listed in the instructions and how the rocket looks on Dr Zooch's website. Going for the scheme with the reddish orange wraps on the boosters would have been difficult to do after the boosters got glued on. Colors used were Testors gloss dark red, Model Master Euro Grey, and Model Master Classic White. Here are the preliminary finish photos. I'm hoping to get some better photos in natural daylight when I get the chance. Can't wait to fly this thing on an A8-3!

Just kidding Wes, I'll probably go for it with a C6-3 at the next club launch. And with this being western Washington, it could be a little while. Enjoy the finish photos.
