Always liked this particular rocket and its bigger sisters, the Photon Disruptor Kit #1282 and the Photon Disruptor II Kit #2052. Not wanting to open the one original "still-in-the-box" kit I decided that Estes re-issued Photon Disruptor was a good candidate for an "upscale-ish version". Modified the NC of the PD so it "resembles" the original. It is not exactly an upscale but only the purists would really care. Building and finishing rockets are parts of the hobby I really enjoy, it is fun and helps me keep away any PTSD from my time in Bosnia and Iraq, if any...

Paint - Primed with PlastiKote gray then white primers. Then I tried the new Krylon MAXX paints on this one. Following the paint instructions - it goes on easy, can be handled about one hour after the final coat, and can be buffed 24 hours after application but I recommend to wait 48 hours. Used 3M Finesse-It 2 to buff and polish then waited 24 hours to decal it.

Colors - I considered painting it "magenta" like on the box or the "fluorescent orange" like the instructions recommend. Both look good to me. But considering this was "the big sister" I decided it a different version of the original one... so I decided it had to be a different color and yellow stuck on my head. The black color of the decals would really stand out on a white and yellow background.

Decals - Upscaled from the original and customized for this build. They were printed on an inkjet printer and given a Krylon 1305 clear coat. Used the BSG free font to do some of the labels.

Simply sharing some pictures. Enjoy.

Neat! I've been putting together parts to do a BT-60 sized upscale, since I found that Semroc sells an upscale ramjet cone.

Me-self..I really like black and yella rockets.
Very neat ,clean work..way to go
