Dan,

We would love to have you and everyone at Red Glare. MDRA uses two fields. One is a sod farm for summer launches. The altitude limit there is 4000, with some exceptions on an individual basis.

The bigger field is the Higgs brothers' farm, which is a cash crop farm. They will not allow rocketeers on to the property until everything has been harvested for the winter. Sometimes that means mid-October. Usually that means November, and sometimes it stretches out past Thanksgiving.

Due to the desire to make Red Glare a high altitude festival, it will always be held at Higgs. So MDRA is at the mercy of the weather, the crops, and the Higgs brothers as to when we can move from the sod farm to the Higgs farm.

Traditionally, there have been two Red Glare events a year, with one in the fall and one in the early spring. Last year, sadly, the crops held out long enough that the fall Red Glare didn't get to happen.

Hopefully this year we will see everything harvested by early November, and a fall Red Glare by mid- to late November. But it is a crap shoot. I would suggest keeping your eyes on the MDRA web site, and you will know as soon as we know.
