A couple of things were found out at Mudroc 2014

A 2 grain 54mm motor case with retainer

And the bottom of a 54mm min dia rocket. White fiberglass body tube with Black fins. It has a 5 (?) grain motor in it. It looks like it's been out there for a few weeks.

Not sure where to post this.

There were a couple of rockets found out at Black Rock during Mudrock..

The first one looks to have been out there a while. It's a 54mm min dia with some home made electronics in it. https://s299.photobucket.com/albums/mm307/tfish38/?action=view&current=found1.jpg

The other one is an estes rocket.

Drop me a line if it's yours or you know who's they are.

nope, most of the ones we find go unclaimed. We did have one that was 'misplaced' for about 8 years find it's owner.

It was not to bad, A 98mm min dia cabron fiber rocket. At the time it must have been one of the first carbon jobs around. The sun and weather took it's tool on the carbon fiber and epoxy. The 98mm Aerotech motor looked good to go!

Yep that's mine. It was a leftover rocket from last years physics class. Go ahead and enjoy it, maybe we'll see it fly again next mud rock!

(each year I have about 15 or so unwanted rockets from my physics classes. I then take them out to black rock where they can fly free and fly high!)

Has everybody got all the rockets in this picture spoken for and returned / properly dispositioned?

That is the reason that I take a Sharpie marker and put my name and cell phone number on the streamer or parachute. If someone is nice like you, you will get it back. I started this way back in the day after I lost my first rocket. Fortunatly I have only lost two, the second loss had my name and phone, but no recovery of that one. My guess is someone liked more than me. With a cell number you can meet in a public place and not your home or their home.
Good Luck and Happy Flying

We were missing these two rockets: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0Ajg-IzzX0

Don eventually got his Mongoose back. We had tracked it a short distance but when we headed toward that location it seemed to have moved in the opposite direction, then moved around in the vicinity of the flight line and finally lost the transmission. It turned up in Arizona ( :

We are still passively looking for Jeff's 2010 and 2011 8" hybrids...anyone find them there is a reward.

Hi All,

My rocket was lost at Black Rock Friday, June 20, 2014 at Black Rock. High winds on the ground probably drug the rocket deep into the dunes in the cove area (4 - 5- miles) from the launch site. Here is the description:

Badd Azz Space Cowboy
min. diam. 54 mm rocket
orange booster (with a bit of yellow fade at top of booster)
yellow nosecone and payload bay
red chute (24 inch I believe)
black CTI tapered closure
CTI 6 XL motor

custom Badd Azz av bay with pink anodize aluminum ejection canisters (two on each end)
aluminum bulkheads on av bay that said Badd Azz engraved

aluminum Badd Azz bulkhead on nosecone with hole for communications specialist transmitter that was transmitting at 222.570

av bay was attached to payload bay with external screws (small allen wrench needed)

two holes at top of booster that allowed small screw driver to turn off Schurter switches for altimeters. These are a little tricky to get the angle right to turn off.

one MissileWorks RRC3
one MissileWorks RRC2+

I don't have my name anywhere on the rocket.

If anyone finds it, I would be forever grateful. Thanks.

Tony,
Thanks for finding my rocket at Balls. (Red DX3)
That's the second time I've lost it at Balls and had it returned to me. :)

I lost my red KestreL 54mm min dia rocket on Friday. There was hardly any wind. I can't believe I couldn't find it even with the CSI tracker in it. I guess strange things can happen on the playa.

I found others and turned them in to the LCO table but couldn't find mine.

If anyone found/finds it, please let me know.

Thanks!

Rob

Should have a lost and found registry, would make reuniting rockets with owners much easier.

Another rocket found out at Black Rock. 54mm min dia Looks to have been out there awhile.

found a rocket buried in the ground. Maybe from BALLS. Picture is attached. Does anyone recognize it?

4" CTI case with bolt-on fins directly on the case. Nylon shock cord. The fins have a unique trailing edge.

Looks like it could be one of my Max Q Aerospace fin cans.

Do you have coordinates?
If it's a Max Q fin can directly on the motor case, and that's 1/2" tubular nylon webbing, it may be the booster section from my Balls project.
I assume you didn't dig any further?

The scared paint definitely matched that picture from xenon.

That picture must have been taken before I started digging. I got to nearly the forward edge of the fins before going back to my own rockets. I was also able to get the rear retaining ring off. It looked like there was no liner in there? Maybe someone else removed that and put the ring back on?
