It's always fun to look at the full pre-mature stack to envision what the final model will look like. It looks impressive.
View attachment 299481 I just got all the parts and slapped it all together for the first time. It looked a little larger than I had initially anticipated. Notice we haven't been watering our lawn, just everything else around it.
After this you can go into business making artisanal lampshades.
I can only imagine the tedium of putting those in one by one, but it is looking great. Are you planning to actually launch this thing? I don't think I could do it.
View attachment 300373 The first retrorocket attached to the S-1VB Interstage unit. I've only got approximately 30 stringers attached out of maybe 147 so it's going to be a long road to get to the end for me on this.
that is AWESOME! If you don't go into lampshades...maybe Boeing will hire you if they put the Saturn V back into production!
View attachment 301183 Nothing new here outside of more stringers and a second retro-rocket in place. All in all 59 stringers glued down with 83 more to go. CRAP!
I have faith in you Steven, you can do it. You have demonstrated you have the patients.
View attachment 302783 Sure enough, the seam is raised above the rest of the cardboard wrap so more sanding and filling is required.
sanding and filling...ugh! looks good afterwards..not fun when doing it!!
Lookin' good. One color sure does make it easier to spot height changes.
Sweet. Those brass etched parts are nice. I thought about using a set and some LED lighting in a BSG Viper I did a while back.
I imagine it is an order of magnitude easier that putting the rivets on by hand like you did with the other model.
View attachment 303321 View attachment 303322 View attachment 303324 I've now started with the brass photo etched and resin parts on the SM. You will notice a slight offset with the vertical brass piece and the resin radiator panel above it. This is shown in the drawings so I simply replicated the positions according to the drawings.
Been in a bit of a slump lately and haven't done squat on this. Hope it changes soon.
