Greetings from the LDRS35 Event Director and the Rocketry Organization of California!

Congrats  to URRG and CATO for slogging through the weather at LDRS34. While we don't have much rain at Lucerne, we do understand that no amount of planning and preparation will overcome the weather (or the "W").

We have registered the "LDRS35.org" domain and have posted a simple, official FAQ in that location as we bring up our planning for LDRS 35 in 2016. Later this Summer or in the Early Fall, we will bring up the full-blown site with all the bells and whistles, but there's a bit of background planning that needs to occur prior to that. While there will be some significant differences between our normal ROCStock events and LDRS35, you can get a sense of our club and the launch site at https://www.rocstock.org/launches

Until we roll out the full site, we will be a mostly "radio silent", except for the FAQ as we focus on the back-end planning and arrangements. Until then, we ask that everyone sit tight...we'll be in touch.

Interested in Vending at LDRS35?
ROC is encouraging vending at LDRS35 and will be setting aside prime flight-line space for vendors at the launch. We don’t need to coordinate with you yet, BUT LDRS35 TAKES PLACE ON FEDERALLY-MANAGED LAND…YOU MUST GET A BLM PERMIT to vend at LDRS35. BLM requires a 180 day lead-time on permits…that means you need to contact the BLM Barstow Field Office and get an application started before DECEMBER 11, 2015…that’s in about six weeks.

ROC is pleased to announce the approval of our FAA Waiver for LDRS 35.

We have been granted a standing waiver to 14,650 AGL with call-in windows to 19,150 AGL. Call-ins are subject to local conditions and are not guaranteed, however, we usually get them within a half-hour of requesting. There is no need to pre-coordinate your flight, we do real-time call-ins.

Advance registration is now open for LDRS 35.

There is also the option to register for the annual Tripoli banquet. You can either add the banquet to your LDRS registration, or there is a separate link on the registration page just for the Banquet. So you can register, and pay, for both on one registration, or do one at a time. You can also select "Invoice Me" to get an invoice and pay by check.

Go to https://ldrs35.org and click on Registration on the menu.

There have been a number of updates to the web site, including information about the launch, the site, expected vendors, and local businesses. So even if you are not ready to register, please check out the LDRS 35 web site. It is a work in progress, but starting to get some useful information as things are beginning to finalize.

Also, search Facebook for the LDRS35 page and discussion group. It is a closed group, so you do have to join. This helps us keep the spam down to a minimum.

For occasional updates and news as it happens follow @LDRS35 on Twitter.

Does ROC still have the "Pad 39A" that was a regular fixture at ROCstock in the late '90s / early '00s?

Will there be any other pads that can handle a 100-pound rocket?

We have been discussing the "LDRS Tweaks" thread, and similar discussions, as we prepare for LDRS 35.

Many of the suggestions and observations deal with things we already do. We host a large launch called "ROCstock" twice per year, normally in June and November. LDRS is somewhat bigger, but we believe it is within our capacity to host another successful LDRS. (We have hosted three in the past, two of them at this same launch site.)

The web page has a growing amount of information, and we are adding to it frequently. Please review it and check back regularly: https://ldrs35.org

Our waiver is finalized, and will be to 14,500' AGL. We will be able ot request call in waivers to 19,000' AGL.

Our current plan is for eleven banks of pads, layed out in three columns. We are planning in enough spacing that we can launch one column while the other two are loading. There will be an addtional "away" pad at a distance that will allow us to launch up to the California Maximum.

If you need something out of the ordinary, please contact our special projects coordinator. If you are planning to fly hybrid motors, we also have a designated hybrid coordinator. Their contact information is on the web page.
Speaking of the California Maximum, that is single motors up to 10,240NS (M), and total installed impulse up to 20,480. All motors must be certified and listed with the California Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM). The motor or accompanying documents will be marked with the OSFM stamp if they are listed. If you are bringing motors from out of state be sure they are listed, or we can not allow them to fly. There will be vendors at LDRS 35, and they are listed on the web page as well.

What size rail? 1010, 1515, both?

Both. In fact, after some of the comments on other threads we have purchased additional 1515 rails.

If you need something out of the ordinary, including really big, please contact our special projects coordinator. We also have a coordinator for hybrid flights. Their contact info is on the web page.
