Return of 'Da Spool' and the QCRS Message Forum

Almost 9 years ago I built a HPR spool that I used to fly quite a bit. Unfortunately, it had a early deployment back at Airfest 15 and sustained some significant damage. It then ended up on the 'round to-it' list where it got bumped for other projects that caught my fancy over the years. I recently decided I need to clear the backlog of projects before undertaking something new, so this is finally back on the radar. In addition to repairing the original, I have parts to build an identical twin of Da Spool that will be called Won't Get Spooled Again. Instead of starting a new build thread, I decided to revive the original build thread on the good ol' QCRS message forum:

Spools are cool. I think you should make an M powered spool.

How did I miss this thread. Probably cause I was occupied with Bong swamp water... :eyeroll:

I have a plastic one at home that's the right size (~2 feet in diameter and 18" tall)

Spools are pretty sweet!
Anyone hear from Pete L. lately? He was big into spools. I talked to him a couple years back at MWP. He said he was flying high altitude balloons.

Shoot, last time I saw the spool fly I was in high school and working summers as a farmhand in Walcott. Can't believe that was almost 10 years ago.

Here's an O powered spool John C "attempted" to fly at AIRfest. Motor let go on the pad.

He even rolled it to the pad, lol.
