Although this is from a while back and may (or may not) be related to DARPA's project (see EXACTO), what is interesting to me is the ballistic shape. If you don't know anything about Sandia, they are involved with the development of the national nuclear weapons arsenal (non-nuclear components), which means they have some of the brightest engineers in the country on their payroll.
