'Star Trek' actress Grace Lee Whitney dies at 85

Whitney died of natural causes Friday in her home in the Central California town of Coarsegold, about 50 miles north of Fresno, her son Jonathan Dweck said on Sunday.


I always thought Yeoman Rand was kinda hot...

I got to meet Grace Lee Whitney at the only Star Trek convention that was held in Ashland Oregon. It was there that I got a kiss from her and from Robin Curtis (Lt. Saavik).

Very nice lady.

When I was 18, I went to a con with Mark Lenard and Walter Koenig. They performed a one-act play called Actors, which was about two again actors looking back on their lives, their triumphs, their mistakes. Since Mark Lenard had also played General Urko on Planet of the Apes, I wore my homemade Urko helmet. When Lenard saw it, he invited me up on stage during one of his chats, opened up a briefcase, pulled out the actual gorilla face prosthetics he wore on the show, and used me to demonstrate the application technique. So I got to wear General Urko's actual face for five minutes.

I saw Grace Lee at one con. I think I met every TOS cast member except Shatner, Nimoy and Nichols.

Shatner, Koenig, Takei and Nichols are the only ones left, right?
