Maybe not REAL cowbells but the TR808 version. Very distinctive. Kinda like vanilla 'flavouring' -close, but no cow.....

I have not listed to the who for years. Thanks for the throw back, love it...even though I am not hearing the cow bells.
I still have a bunch on vinyl somewhere but never coverted my old Rock digital. I think I have every Floyd, Who, Stones, Zeppelin, Nazareth, Zappa, Nugent, Aerosmith, CCR, etc. Vinyl album ever made, or at least up to say 30-35 years ago, give or take. They are likely still on the milk crates, the ones that fit the albums until the milk industry clewed into why their crates were disappearing and resized them.
