There will be plenty of rockets to build and launch after you are all rested, fixed, and healed. Glad it wasn't the dreaded C word. Take care of yourself.

Thought I'd give everyone an update. I still have a massive infection in my left kidney. I went in last Wednesday, and they put in two drains, one into the kidney, and one into the abscess that developed. I went in today, they were supposed to remove the abscess drain. But it's still draining. They also discovered that the kidney drain was clogged. I now have to flush it with saline periodically. I'm also on yet another course of oral antibiotics, in addition to the IV antibiotic they gave me Wednesday. It's a major hassle having two drains and two bags strapped to my leg. But I keep telling myself it could be worse. Much worse. I'm hanging in there.

It sure is nice to hear from you Quake...
You are correct about it could be worse..
Think of this as an inconvenience...
This will pass quickly just as time always does...
Then you'll be back to you're old self showin us a crazy great jig you conjured up,,,,lol...

Glad you checked in with a medical update.

I'm only 20 minutes or so away if you need anything.

That sounds pretty rough.
Thanks for the update though, and prayers and thoughts sent your way.
Keep hanging in there then and get well as soon as you can.
We'll be right here waiting for you.

Jim , You have our best wishes and prayers for your full recovery. Where is your urologist located? Just asking because I have a fantastic one at Sutter Roseville Hospital.

Dr. Chan is with Mercy Medical Group. I don't think I have access to Sutter doctors, although I have seen a stone specialist at UC Davis.

hope it all goes well and there's a speedy recovery. O1d_Dude and I can smuggle in real food to the hospital if required. :)

Thought I'd give you guys another update, since it's been a while. I went in last Thursday for a laser lithotripsy and stent placement. The urologist blasted the stone, but wasn't able to place the stent, for some reason. I was groggy when he came and talked to me. So they sent me down to interventional radiology, and they were able to place the stent through my back. I didn't know that was possible. But he also replaced the nephrostomy tube. Again I was groggy, and don't remember the reason why. It was a very long day, to say the least.

Well, I stopped urinating Thursday night. I didn't urinate at all on Friday or Saturday. So I went to the ER this morning. I was thinking I had a blockage in my urethra. But they did an ultrasound, and I only had 22ml of urine in my bladder. They did blood work and a urinalysis, and she talked to the on-call urologist. He said the urine is going from my bladder into my left kidney, and into the drain bag. I've never had a nephrostomy bag fill so quickly and often. The urologist said it's common, but I've never heard of it, nor has it happened to me in the past.

I've got a bad UTI, which the ER doc was very concerned about. I'm on antibiotics, hopefully that will help. My followup with the urologist that did the lithotripsy is on August 24. I'll learn more then. At some point, when all this is over, I'll have to go get the big surgery at UC Davis. I'm a mess.

My prayers are with you Jim...
You will get through this trying time and be better..

Teddy..
