I'm planning on coming to this launch first time in IL - Gus I think has my back for my TRA L2 cert attempt

Could I get some NAR Guys/gals to witness my NAR L2 test and attempt? L2 I think requires 2-NAR L2 to witness or an L3

I should have the rocket done even if it's naked.

Be there if you search for me look for "the kawabunga dude", also know as "kawaboomga" (for you to find out)

:D

Ich verstehe....It will be good to see you again my friend, along with all the other friends i see way too little of....:sigh:

Something wonderful is about too happen....

Hi? :D *knock* *knock*.....Is there anybody out there?

Wheres all the talk, the bragging, the challenges within the event?

You are all being very...very quiet! ;)

I just brought the Gizmo in from out in the shop and, chased a few spiders out of the airframe....time to start touching it up and, prepping this weekend.

New name and, theme too come shortly....secret....secret....

Just enjoying your chronicles :) Please keep them coming.

I plan on flying my Ultimate Wildman on an N-5600 WT. The one I did not have a chance to fly at MWP.

Plus one or two more rockets....

Really looking forward to this event

I'm running out of *funny* due to exceeding the bandwidth between my ears. I may not be the brightest bulb on the chandelier of life but, i keep trying to rack my primitive monkey brain for something else...

Tonight at work will probably be very much like the last two weeks...

Hee heh! :p

"What's Rocket Man doing over there at that break room table... laughing too himself?" :D

HEE heh! :p

 "I think he's getting ready for another one of those "Rocket Launch Things".

Hee heeeh! :p

"Ohhhh boy. Hey dude, why can't you be like all the rest of us Truck Drivers and, quit playing with those little toys?"

Hee HEEEH! :p

 "I don't think he hears a word your saying....like he's in a trance or something..."

Hee hea....:p

"Sparky! Get a hold of yourself....You've got a long night ahead of yourself and, alot of miles to day dream!"

Hee Hee! :p

 "Grow up and, quit playing with dolls! Go buy a Harley and, come riding with us this weekend!"

If i wanted to ride a couch, i would just stay home...Besides i don't equate REAL power with the sound of flatulence roaring off the side of the highway...Hee hee! :p

:surprised: "Oh my gosh, he spoke!" :surprised:

*Even amongst my own, i am considered an outsider sometimes...*

I know there's ONE person i haven't made fun of yet....;)

:D HI! My names Chuck Haskin and, i CAN attest that Gus REALLY does talk like he posts with weird hand/facial gestures including massive swings in pitch and, tone...Very similar to Jim Carey WITHOUT all the real funny, the good looks, money and, being able too say he bagged Cameron Diaz!

Cameron Diaz! HEE HEH! :p

Time is winding down...and, the Spiders i shoo'd out of the Gizmo are sitting on the edge of the kitchen table here and, their not happy i took them away from all the peace and, quiet found in the shop lately...I've got to go...their planning another attack! :duck:

*sniff* *sniff* Do i smell Brimstone? :surprised: Dixie...you dark :dark: Sith Lord you! Good to hear from you my friend! :D Thanks for the photo...
You know what i'd do if Cameron Diaz ever knocked on my door here in Malfunction Junction Indiana....

I'd throw her in the back seat of my Camaro and, race down the hill into town to the CVS Pharmacy and, buy her some of that $5 red hair dye that all the hot looking L*tino teen girls use when they dye their hair!

;) "That's RIGHT ladies, nothing...absolutely NOTHING looks as natural on a dark skinned woman as too have *Ragu El Sauso* colored hair!" ;)

Then i'd throw in the backseat again...and, drive next door to Wendy's for a couple of burgers...

Hey! I'm a classy guy...

Sorry i couldn't get back to you much sooner....see the Spiders i was talking about yesterday :point: duct taped me to the kitchen table and, demanded that the Gizmo go back out in the shop after the launch was over.

There's some mean Spiders in the country! :(

Anyway, i KNOW you'll be there....what are flying my Sith :dark: Master...Master Sith?

Congratulations on the promotion to CEO too! Heaven doesn't want me and, Hell is afraid i'll take over....but, somewhere in between i found a new job! Good health benefits package too!

We are the Spider People and, we have taken over Gus's computer...:w:

Right now Gus is out in the shop working on our former home...:(

*pound* *pound* Get in that hole you @#$#'n thing!

He doesn't sound real happy right now...

Eureka! It fits...NOW work! *pound* *pound*

Sounds like he's making some progress! :D

Razzle Frazzle! Your going too work this #$@&! time or else!

Houston, we've got issues!

If....if.....you don't work this time....I swear you'll spend the rest of your %@#&'n days as a flower planter in the back yard!

Ohhhhh.....idle threats! ;) We get our home back....this time for GOOD! :D

*Creakkk.....*Spider Peoples! What are doing with my computer? I told you NO porn!

Oh, nothing here just checking on our Stocks! ;)

Well...it think this things going to work...Bored? Good, jump in the truck we need to go into town and, get about five cans of the cheapest paint Walmart has.

Can we stop and, get some ice cream?

Yeah, i guess we can, since i displaced you from your home.....

Can we get those sprinkle things on the top too?

Promise to keep your legs off my table?

:D:D:D Promise! :D:D:D

Good....time's a wasting and, the clock is ticking. Only two weeks till MMWP! Get in the truck boys!

:D:D:D Weeeeeeh! :D:D:D:

OK.... So where can I find the skinny on this launch? My memorial day weekend plans may change tomorrow, enabling me to attend MMWP instead of another launch.

Is membership with QCRS still required? Can I join onsite? What are the launch fees?

Haven't been to Princeton. Please share details.

Looking at flying rockets of all sizes, from a 1010 rail to a 1515 rail with an M. What pads are available for the 1515 rail (with a 7.5" M motor?).

Thanks,
Mike

Hello Mike! :D

Good to see someone else reads this post too....I'm just a humble little friend of many in their club and, avid supporter of the launches (When they don't ALL fall on Saturdays...a day some of "US" work.)

I've pretty much have done everything i could to draw attention to this event without dropping my drawers, turning around, bending over and, inserting a finger up my ***. :w:

To answer some of your questions: A great place to start is their website...which is- qcrs.us

Membership is required and, the cost is $30 a year which will cover you till this time next year, memberships available at the field.

Range should be open from around 9am local ( Central Standard Time ) until 5pm -Or everyone gets REALLY hungry on Saturday...and, 9am till about 3-4pm on Sunday.

A map is easily found on their website showing how to find the field (and, its REAL easy to find!) Waiver will be 16,000k both days...with miles of mostly treeless recovery!

Rails in both sizes are readily available and, i would recommend bringing a can of WD40 (just in case).;) Do not know if the Tower of Power Trailer will be there though.

It's an AWESOME field! :D

The Saturday night dinner is $10 per person and, you should probably shoot the guy who started this whole thread thingy :point: and, let him know how many adults you may have that might be interested in being fed. (It IS worth the money...you will not find a Steak that big with the fixings for that price.) Location is Casa del Wildman's (a short drive down the road to the exciting town of Van Orin Illinois...)

It's a great time, an excellent chance to meet some people who you may already know or not...and, get feed well!

What happens on Saturday night at the Cookout...stays at the Cookout....

Now, you'll have to excuse me....i've got to get back to the thread by the Maine Missile Math and, Paper Mache group! Why? Cause i just can't get enough of it! :p

Hope to see you there!

Thanks for the note Gus.

It sounds like the girlfriend will be joining. We may decide to partake in the local cuisine or see if there is anything to do in the area Saturday night.

Anyone know if Claude Paquin still attends? Haven't seen him since our old flying days with St Louis Rocketry Association...

Take care and hopefully I'll see everyone at the field!

I remember you, Mike.

I will be there, and will be very happy to see you again.

Ohhhh....He'll be there! ;)

Darn it Claude, you beat me to it! Fingers couldn't type fast enough....

Mini Midwest Power Memory #14

This memory is a little fuzzy (and, i'll get to that later) but, i do remember some things that happened quite well.....It goes a little like this.

Bill and, Diane Dorn (The Flying Nun) are very dear friends of mine...Well, it was the year that Diane really became hooked on fitness and, was gaining some muscle mass rather quickly...NOT in a manly way but, rather noticeable...
Anyway, i was standing about 25 feet away just giving her a real ration about the fanny pack that she was wearing. It had shifted and, for all intentional or non-intentional purposes....

It looked like she had a MAJOR bulge thingy going on...on her front side at the lower shirt line. :y:

 DAMN SISTER! Your NOT supposed to take anything that has a picture of a horse on the bottle!

Next thing i know...Diane is in full trot my direction and, gaining speed...but, before she got there...i felt a sharp pain and, saw stars.

All i could thing of before i hit the ground was: DAMN! :D Ninja, that was a killer knock out from AT LEAST 10 feet away! :p

I saw bright light, heard the soothing sounds of harp music and, felt a general warmness flow across my body...Then a gentle but, calming voice rang out...

"Welcome home my son..."

Are you:confused:

"Yes, i am...I am your true Father, the Architect of Humanity..."

You kind of look like the Architect of the Matrix!

"I get that all the time..."

Who are those hot looking Mama's with the harps behind you:confused:

"Their names are Angelica, Angelina and, Angel..."

Let me guess...i get to pick my own *Welcome Wagon here!* ;)

"Why yes you do my son..."

I'll take the Redhead!

"Excellent choice my son!"

Hey Daddy-O, got a question for you....Where's the nearest Drag Strip? Do you have a Model Rocketry Club and, why is it that i can't *Tap* *Tap* get the Cake Farts Video to come up on my phone? :(

"WHAT?!"

I mean if this place REALLY is that *place* i might want to enjoy my time here....Plus i'm guessing i'm NOT allowed to *touch* her....those wings look preeeeetty menacing!

"Maybe this isn't the place you need to be....yet."

Well....I was raised a Lutheran in southern Wisconsin and, we really have no Couth per say....

"Just keep that smoking thing up and, we will be seeing you real soon....Try to redeem your ways before it's TOO LATE!"*POOF*

Then i woke up cradled in Diane's arms...and, suddenly realized that *yes, that really is a fanny pack not a......*

Apparently the motor casing out of Cliffy Dawg's rocket finally made it's way back to earth and, landed on my head...

Now you know the rest of the story and, why i always wear a hat...not just to keep what little hair i have left on top of my head....

Bill, i'm so envious of you...You have a tough but, lovable wife who can handle herself quite well with the boys and, is not afraid to climb a tree to retrieve your rockets! Save me a spot at the dinner table Saturday night...see you all real soon! ;)

I threw some powder and some goo into a big bowl today in preparation for this launch. It'll be a fun event!

Looks yummy. I love aluminum based cookies!! Whatcha makin?

An N3500....sweet...can't wait to see that flight! :)

Considering all the moisture in the Midwest this week...

I KNOW he degassed it...
I HOPE he degassed it...
In general i HOPE he degassed it...

Or you'll see the most thundering conflagration you've ever seen....:p

But, i know he's too smart for that! :D He IS getting BETTER at this stuff! ;)

Any details on times? What time will range open on Sautrday/Sunday? Need help with setup?
Just finalized babysitting for the weekend....
Wife will be there.
Level 2 is coming. 3" DarkStar on a 38mm 6-grain J400-SS is the plan. Motor eject, single deploy for the cert flight. My wallet has been crying for the past week.
After my super successful cert flight, who wants to help me finish my DD setup and maybe loan me a 54mm casing for Sunday?

Rocket disassembly device 😈

Sorry, i didn't see this earlier...Dennis...You should be ashamed of yourself for saying something like this here on the forum.
I mean i really hate to see a friend of mine picking on another.
Manny has matured quite well with his tenure in college and, i...along with so many others feel that he has become a great ambassador for ALL of us whenever he travels out of the Midwest to meet other fine Rocketry folk.

 What am i saying? Dennis, give me a few notes on the keyboard and, follow along!

Ta-Ra-Ra...B:surprised::surprised:M De-Ay! :D:D

We call him Mann-Eh! :D:D

He brought a Rocket too Play! :D:D

A LOUD Boom display! :D:D

Parts all over the place! :D:D

Can you say "Bucket Retrieval" oh yah! :D:D

Shrapnel :duck: everywhere you say!... :D:D

Ta-Ra-Ra Boom De-Ay! ;);)

I'm just kidding here Mann...You know i have the utmost faith in you! I KNOW you characterized this in a slightly *smaller* form somewhere else.

You did didn't you?

You know Bon Scott said it best: "Hell ain't no bad place to be" and, if its MY destination...i've made my peace with that. Seriously...

Name the casing you need and I'll probably have it. CTI or AT, I have all the 54 on down of both. I'll help you and you can help lift half of a 50 lb Mad Maxx

Adrian

Sounds great! Assuming all goes as planned on Saturday, I was thinking of maybe a 3- or 4-grain 54 CTI... Depends how much cheddar I have left by then.

Don't let Gus find out you have Cheddar... Oh wait, that's code for cash, cabbage, moolah, greenbacks.... :eyeroll:
