Not the Prinz, but its sister made it into song...

Great video, impressive it stayed airborn in a pinwheel so long..projects like these are worth trying and are spectacular, whether success or failure

Fantastic build and awesome video to bad that only had a single motor light, although it looks like you could re-engineer it as a monocopter and be pretty successful. That would open up all kinds of firing solutions for the main guns.

I remember this was a Johnny Horton song. My dad had the eight track tape. Bloody Red Baron, Battle of New Orleans, Ahab the Arab, all classics. The Prinz almost sank the Prince of Whales. The shell did not explode in the magazine.

For one lit motor canted above the CG it sure spun around the CG nice. The top man LCO thought it was some kind of sick helicopter entry. No, just a no good clustered, canted, tractor motored oddroc with PODS. Is it just an ignition issue? I sure hope the Pad Fuehrer thinks so and gives me another chance.

In March of Twenty Fifteen the war had just begun
Daddyisabar had the biggest ship that had the biggest guns
The Prinz Eugen was the fastest ship that ever flew the skies
On her decks were guns as big as steers and motors perhaps a big as 'I's.

We'll find the German battleship that's makin' such a fuss
He's gotta launch the Eugen 'cause the world laughs with us
Yeah hit the deck a runnin' boys and spin that rocket around
And when we find the Eugen we'll dig 'er outta the ground

The RSO approved the flight and on that fatal day
Daddy pushed the button, the Eugen started away
'He's gotta launch the Eugen' was the battle sound
But when the smoke had cleared away the mighty ship was down

For six long days and weary nights he'd toiled on the tail
Daddy told the people about how upon the ship he put a plastic whale
'Cause somewhere on that ship I know she's gotta CG
We gotta add some drag on it to adjust the CP

We'll find the German battleship that's makin' such a fuss
He's gotta launch the Eugen 'cause the world laughs with us
Yeah hit the deck a runnin' boys and spin that rocket around
And when we find the Eugen we'll dig 'er outta the ground

The smoke had started in a second and they saw the morning sun
The RSO cried out to all 'ya gotta clear out and RUN!'
The Daddy of his fleet said, "watch as it spins around"
We found that German battleship coming spinnin' down

The no British guns were aimed and no shells were coming fast
The first motor lit the Eugen, they knew she couldn't last
The other two failed to light, they were just a memory
'Launching the Eugen' was the battle cry that shook the very trees

We'll find the German battleship that's makin' such a fuss

I prefer this version...

Daddyisabar: The real Prinz Eugen had its own mishaps. At least yours hasn't collided with anything valuable, such as the light cruiser Leipzig... Good luck with the repairs and the next flight!

Didn't collide with anything more valuable than the Earth...

Daddy, I do hope you know I only jest.
I really like your oddrocs
You really are the Best!

Yeah, I have not blown off the stern or rammed another rocket mid air yet. The roll cage did save they day! Safety First!

Keep at it, if I can get my RC space battleship yamato rocket glider to work, I'm sure you'll have this one licked next time.

Well. It happened again. On the second launch I was right there on fire crew when the button was pushed and one igniter immediately went pop! I uttered a nasty word- the Chinese igniters off ebay that had done so well in the past have completely gone astray. It was a total repeat of the first flight only this time the stern hit first and broke off. TOTAL FAILURE. Not repairable. My horrible run luck continues, I can't seem to consistently light any BP 29mm motors these days. I have offended the rocket gods and they have set me completely off course.

AFTer much consideration... I'm sure that the Prinz will be getting a stern warning not to fly on one engine only. Time to set a new heading for this one.

Sorry about the crackup Daddy.

sorry to hear about the cruiser Daddy..no word on the Hauptmann in the reports so I am concerned about his safety.

If you are not done with flying warships....perhaps you should try a ship that had a reputation of being a lucky ship..such as the USS Washington....BB56...she was the North Carolina's sister ship and had a reputation for being a lucky ship....a ship where things got done right....probably had the best crew of any US fast battleship in the war....had the commander of the US fast battleships, the famed Task Force 34, the battle line of the Pacific fleet, Admiral "Ching" Lee on board...it was his personal favorite of the battle line and that tells you something I think. Washington personally blew the Japanese battle cruiser Kirishima right out of the water at night, off Guadalcanal...maybe the Washington's luck will assuage the rocket gods?

Thanks guys. This time around the Prinz was an unlucky ship.

Thanks to Skp we have some video of the second and last flight. You can not hear the naughty word I uttered when the igniter popped so it is family friendly.

The Washington would be good as I could put a mermaid Barbie doll on the keel to equalize drag!

The tumbleweed is always greener
In somebody else's salt lake
You dream about going up there
But that is a big mistake
Just look at the world around you
Right here above ocean floor
Such wonderful things surround you
What more is you lookin' for?

Over the Sea...
Over the See...
Down there it's wetter
take it from me...

Up on the range they work all day
Out in the sun they slave away
While we devotin'
Full time to loftin'
boats above the sea

Down there all the fish is happy
As off through the waves they roll
The fish on the land ain't happy
They sad 'cause they in their bowl
But fish in the bowl is lucky
They in for a worser fate
One day when the boss get crazy
Guess who's gon' be on the blast plate

Over the Sea...
Over the See...
Nobody beat us
Fly us or launch us
In Californiee
