Hi Everyone!

I have been "lurking" around for about a month or so reading the articles and "how to's" and figured it was time to introduce myself to the community that has taught me so much in such a short time!

Anyway, here goes:

I started in rocketry many, many, many moons ago (think late 70's) and have just gotten back into it the past couple of months with my two son's (7 and 11). Our current "fleet" consists of an Estes Metalizer, Estes Rascal and HiJinks set (needed the launch pad etc.) that are currently flying. We have a build que of: an Estes Super Alpha (me), Estes Monarch (oldest son) and an Estes Cosmic Explorer (youngest)

Our/my "to build" que is quite long and includes an Estes Partizon that I look forward to building someday! Just getting back into the hobby and already looking at MPR and HPR certs! *LOL*https://www.rocketryforum.com/images/smilies/21.gif

This is a picture of my very first rocket launch. LOTS of sanding sealer on that build. Didn't last much past that one launch though but it was fun while it lasted! DSCN9816.jpg

Anyway, that is all for now. Have some questions that I will post in a separate thread as well, I look forward to the day when I can help impart some knowledge to someone else.

Thanks to EVERYONE here for sharing your thoughts/ideas and build que's with the rest of us!

Welcome to the Forums!

Now, if you've got any launches this year, you'll need to post them to our Newton Tally thread. Let's see how long it takes a bunch of BARs to launch a Saturn V.

Pointy Side Up!

Hi and welcome. Glad to hear that you're enjoying rockets with your boys.

I got back into rocketry shortly after my son was born and I decided he needed some rockets to hang in his room. Before I knew it I was stuffing motors in those rockets and letting them rip. Now I'm always telling my son to stay out of "daddy's rocket stuff!"

Enjoy the hobby -there are a lot of directions to go these days. Be careful, though, or you'll end up with several totes full of unbuilt kits. Ask me how I know...

*LOL* Now that is funny!......Hmmmmmmmmm, no "plastic totes" (yet) but there is a box or two in the master bedroom corner from Estes that my wife has been asking me to move somewhere else!

Maybe NOT so funny after all! Oh well, will just have to build them up and donate them to kids

Welcome to the nut house. Glad to hear you are getting your sons involved.

Take this from one who knows, beware of the growing build pile.........

Nice pic of the X-Wing and Big Foot launch pad !

Careful with that Partizon , Mid Power Rocketry is a gateway drug ...

Keep building, flying and posting - we always like pics !

Welcome back to Rocketry!

I am not sure where you are in Alabama, but we have a small group: Birmingham Rocket Boys, we usually have a launch on the 3rd Saturday of Every Month. Feel free to like us on Facebook for the most recent news and launch updates, but we also have a website:
https://www.birminghamrocketboys.com/

I also like going down to Phoenix Missile Works which Launches near Sylacauga, AL a few times out of the year, They have a 24,000ft waiver and launch some pretty large stuff! In fact, they are having a launch this Saturday... If you go to it, i'd recommend bringing mud boots . I hope to attempt my level 2 cert there this weekend.

Anyway, as someone said earlier, HARA is a great club too!

Whether you just launch out in your backyard, local park, or go out to a club launch... have fun! My favorite times in the hobby are building/flying smaller rockets with children around, just make sure the pointy end is facing up!

Hey that's great,,,
Welcome to TRF,,
And have a great time with your 2 sons...
Your a lucky man for sure...

Teddy

Welcome to TRF!
You've come to the right place. This is a family friendly place and we all just love to see photos of what you and your boys build and fly.
I'm Not a bar...I've been building and flying Mod-rocs since the 60's and have incorporated the hobby into just about everything else I've done along the way;)

Be sure to enjoy the time you have with your kids, all mine are now grown and gone to the 4 corners of the world but we still enjoy memories of the great times we've had building and flying Model rockets, Scouting (boy & Girl) and all kinds of other outdoor activities.
The only sad part is the times pass SO darn quickly. Take lots of photos and share them with the boys and here on TRF.
Again Welcome!
