Interesting. Lubricant on the shorter ones during the machining process? By mandate they have to be the 6061. I have a small 24mm Ex motor that's 2024 that has tougher specs but I've only used for ground testing. It has a grayish appearance but
I think the color here is from the processing. Kurt

Guys, those dark cases are re-manufactured cases made from 38/1200 hardware that was made too short. They are hardcoat anodized and the thrust ring has been moved back to accommodate Slimline retainers.

They will be sold with thrust rings for 50% off retail. 120, 240 480 and 740 cases are available, but there's not a whole lot. I'll get them sometime next week. Hands are very full with work on both ends right now.

I thought that's what those cases were, the ones from the out spec lot you mentioned a couple of weeks ago.

Just a quick update. All the 38mm hardware was shipped to anodizing late last week . Scott should have it very soon!
Please buy American made products!!

Please buy American made products!!

I hear ya, but what common rocket parts ARE NOT built in the USA?
I can think of only one major vendor....
Is this, in effect, just a rant against one vendor to the north?

Nothing wrong with pride, is there? And there is a major foreign competitor, and Yea, it's CTI (gasp I said the name!!!) Though I think in Loki's case it's a general Buy USA thing, not a "don't buy CTI thing"

As for other major vendors, Estes went to china and quality went straight to hell. nuff said there.

My comment was not aimed at Anyone, CTI included, I simply ask you to buy Products made in America because it makes our country stronger.

It only makes sense. Otherwise we sit around and go "where did all the jobs go?"

in other news: I flew another K1127LB and a J1026LC in the screech at LDRS. Still digging for photos, but I have the GPS data.

K1127LB :) again Went 8600+ feet and spiked the 50G accelerometer. BOOO. Reported 773 ft/s, and it did about double that.

Smoke fire fire fire PEACE OUT!

landed right over here. Little issue with the main coming out at nearly 9K :/

and video. This was around 8:30pm Friday night. (forgot the card for the J1026 >< >< )

That'd be an interesting test. Time for a 100G marsa and another load. (Gonna be awhile :p )

I bet if you removed the camera and shroud it would easily do 10k'.

I doubt that small shroud is accounting for 16% altitude loss. If it was that significant, you'd see some really wonky flight profiles with coning originating in the plane of the shroud.

Weight is probably the biggest factor. Have a Wildman Jr. That weighs 1.1# less and hits a little over 11,000' twice now.

I flew my AAD-98 Interceptor Friday at LDRS on the Loki M-1650. Perfect flight to 16,522 reaching Mach 1.35 on the way up. Awesome motor Scott!

Why do I remember the LCO reading "Loki! Loki! Loki!" like we were at a truck and tractor pull? BB getting the advertising campaign going.

Since Sharon has started mixing her own motors, we bought both of the "Specials", the 54/1600 case and the 76/2400 case. She has been working with Burnsim to get a couple of motors ready for Airfest this year. I have been lusting for the new 54/4000 casing and pulled the trigger on that casing and the L2050 that fits in it. Being the altitude junkie (versus the speed freaks here) that I am, I would like to see a longer burning load for that case. There are a few moon burner loads listed, and a longer burning Loki Red, like the L480, but that's for the 76/3600 case. I suppose I could just buy a few more Loki cases, like the 54/2800 or the 76/6000 and fly that M900, but how about a Loki red long burn for the 54/4000?
Sharon wanted me to mention that we ordered the wrong nozzle for the 54/1600 case. We need the #33 nozzle for this case.

I put a #31 in my 1600. #33 is listed on the tech pages, but I think 31 matches AMW loads and I'm targeting that ballpark.

The K350 in the 54/2800 is a sick sick moonburner.... I got photos of one in an MD this weekend..... I just need to dig and find them. Awesome motor.

I never used to be about teleporting.... But doing it with bigger rockets has been a blast. It's nice punching it and staying under the call-in altitude. Pretty soon I'm going to start slapping some of this into Canvas rockets....and then both speed and altitude are going to start creeping up....

I think it's harder to get a moon burner going in the high L/D ratio cases. Most are already pushing it pretty hard, a longer burn, plus erosion are going to do a number on the case at the bottom.

We are new to the "mix your own" world, and I'm looking forward to talking to more experienced people who do this at Airfest.
No problem with a call in waiver at our launch site, standing 50,000 ft. waiver all weekend, I think that's why most of the fliers are altitude junkies there.
Sharon will run Burnsim with the propellant we are using and check on the nozzle size. We might be able to use a 31 or 32.
