I've a Pro 38 3G case and spacers. Dead handy as the motor mount is 9'' long, same as the case. This also allows flights from an G46 to an I55 (7.2 burn time). Flight cost is £20 - £50 which I can live with. At a push a 4G (11.5'' long) could fit.

I also bought a 3D printed sled and Mobius HD shroud

eBay too the rescue. I've ordered all stainless steel fittings. £9.36 delivered. Some spares there as well which is handy.

I went for JST connectors on the pyro outlets to the bulkheads. Again eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310856187204?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

All the stainless steel hardware for the AV Bay has arrived.

Thinking for the fixed studding end of the AV bay....

M5 nut
M5 spring washer

So I need to workout the best layout for cutting the body tube.

36" Airframe
-8.5" MMT (.5" is over hanging for Aeropack, true MMT length is 9")
-2.5" NC

=25" Airframe
-5" AV bay
= 20"

20" free airframe to be cut for drogue and main recovery.

36" main folded = 7"
25Ft shock chord wrapped around my hand = 7"
25Ft shock chord wrapped around iPhone 5s = 6"h
Folded in half 4"
25Ft shock chord folded in half and wrapped around my hand = 3"

7" + 3" = 10"

I'm killing a small amount of free time in work. So this what I've worked out

Drogue section is to be 6'' packing volume, 17.5' over all length
Main section is to have 14'' packing volume, 18.5'' over all length.

I think the shock chord method of fold then wrap to make a 3'' bundle works. I might look at finding something too wrap it around to make neater. My kids have a load of them silly eleastic bands (Loom bands) which I can use to hold the chord togther. Making for neat exit then deplyoment.

This means there will be 4'' extra with the main for packing and 3' on the drogue.

The 18.5'' side will have 2'' of the AV bay / coupler fitted via the plastic rivets.
The 17.5'' side will have a 1 caliber as I've been advised/told 3'' of the AV bay / coupler fitted via the normal means of friction.

So here goes...

Oh yeah this is all inside infront of the TV as it's 1c outside and my workshop is bloody cold. I used ones of these to cut the tube, perfect. https://www.screwfix.com/p/angled-compound-mitre-saw/59824

Doesn't look too bad huh. Now to conider how too attach the shock chord to an eyebolt that I will fit on the CR

I have ordered 4 x 4mm A4 Stainless Steel AISI 316 Quick Link https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310847659116?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

How do you like the Quantum tube as opposed to BlueTube or Magnaframe?

Never ever cut an airframe my self so this was easy. Quick sand to clean it up done.

My club had a issue with a very wet field so this is perfect.

No filling or sealing just a sand and paint.

Magnaframe is not here in the UK

Only a small update tonight, been a little hectic this end

Hole for 1/4'' eye bolt drilled, bits for the 1/4'' eye bolt and some thread lock. Let's get making

Good dolop of threadlock

Sorted, job done

Seen a recent topic on here about the shock chord on a 3'' rocket being replaced. Got me thinking and with it all being a little tight i'm going to loop the length of chord. So this 25ft chord is now a 12.5Ft which is perfect for the drogue end. I can replace it should anything happen.

This is Ziva. She had the hump as daddy was working and not playing. An on the spot inspection was given

That's all for tonight. I want to try and make a small guide for locating the CR exactly 1/2'' from the end of the tube. I can then use a good mix of 15 min epoxy and slide with a twisting motion the CR up into location. This getting it central and a good bond.

Sorry for lack of updates, work, family life and a birthday....

Tonight was quick to get coupler and bulkheads to fit. M6 thread, drill, nuts an washers with some 180 grit

When your PML coupler doesn't fit the airframe. Got rather hot! Had to do this outside due to the dust and doge a thunder snow storm which was amazing. Scary how thin it goes, some quality control needed form PML I think. I'm thinking of slitting a spare 3'' PML coupler and trimming the length down then glueing them together. My bulkheads side inside lightly so have to trim length of 2nd coupler.

Will try and get some more done on this bird as want to get her flying. Have a growing collection of Pro 38's.
