ALtOS + Windows 8 = Headache Help AltusMetrum

Hello all

I'm trying to install AltOS 1.5 on my laptop with (the horrible) Windows 8.

The first error I get is

Cannot determine Java version. Download and install?

I click Yes

I then get the window

This product uses Java 1.6, 64bits, it will now be downloaded and installed

I click ok and get

Download failed: /TIMEOUT=3000

I click ok and then I get nothing. :facepalm:

Have you tried going to the actual Java site and downloading it?

Java runtime environment 1.6 65bit, install it then reinstall altos.

Thanks that worked. I thought I had everything up to date on this computer I guess not!!

We keep finding different places where Windows hides information about the installed Java version. I think I'll change the wording of those dialogs in the next installer...
