Here's an article about how NASA's budget has been increased for next year, even beyond what the agency asked for in certain areas.

Looks like the planetary exploration programs have gotten a boost, which is great. And the added money to study a mission to Europa is a nice surprise. SLS and Orion get an increase too (could it have anything to do with the Russians becoming more belligerent?).

Nah... SLS/Orion isn't about the Russians, or replacing their capabilities on ISS...

SLS/Orion is the big pork-barrel project that the Congressvermin and their favorite big aerospace contractors and lobbyists can all make the most money off of, therefore it's the priority.

Good to see planetary science/robotic missions getting a little uptick in the funding too... as well as commercial crew being funded a little better, almost like it's SOME kind of a priority, finally...

Commercial crew is the only thing near-term that poses any sort of alternative to just continuing to buy seats on Soyuz from Russia... yet Congress has CONSISTENTLY under-funded it since it was put in place...

Later! OL JR :)
