I've just found out (thanks to our new member) that finding commercial motors in Taiwan may be a bit of a problem for me. However, he did mention water rockets. I know that some are capable of going quite high. Anybody here have experience w/them (and I'm not talking about the kid's toy).

Thanks!

Yep, I have used them to teach Cub Scouts and my niece s and nephews a little about stability and propulsion. Launchers are easily built.rockets can be cheaply made. Altitudes in excess of 300 feet are easily obtainable with 2litre soda bottles.

Here's my latest water rocket, the ACROPHOBIA module on the THBBT booster. The pods each hold a video cameratmp_6119-IMG_20141104_164310264162056.jpg

I just couldn't get into water rockets. I suppose if you have a strong enough container and good enough compressor, you can achieve higher altitudes. I just stuck with firework rockets in Taiwan, since that's about the only thing available. Maybe find out who's making all those motors for Quest, and find out if they can import to Taiwan...

This is all I found so far... https://tw.ttnet.net/ttnet/gotoprd/TY110/041/0/454303034333233363.htm

googling in Taiwan is about as useful as asking random strangers for directions on how to go from downtown of a foreign (to the country you're in) city to a random bar in that foreign city. A lot of businesses and suppliers do not have a functioning web site. Most the time it's just a picture of their business with a contact info, if that. If they had a web page it looks like it's written in the 1980's. I searched on someone asking where to buy rocket motors in Taiwan and the best suggestion found was basically making them.

Do you have access to polycarbonate florescent light tube covers? I've had a rocket made from an 8ft long one easily pass 400ft on just 100 psi. The only modifications I made to it were to glue coke bottle nozzles on to each end, and 3 small fins.

Yeah that's just gonna make a fountain. At 100psi a 2 liter is roughly equivalent to an F impulse motor from what I've heard.
