Can propellant types be mixed?

Or you could cluster different motors. I recently did one that had three Skidmarks surrounding a Red longburn in the center. All fired off the pad, and then as the skids burn out, the red motor keeps burning. It's pretty cool.

Here's a photo of something similar done with air-started sparkies:

You can also see it in the following video at about 5 minutes and 40 seconds in:

Wow! That is nice!

That's it! That is awesome! How did you do it? It didn't look like any of that was commercial.

It was a research motor, as we're the couple others I've made using Rick's idea. I wouldn't expect commercial manufacturers to produce such a thing. Cool effect when done right, though.

Wicked!!

I remember one of the coolest night launches I've seen was a flight by Tim Ziegenbein from Leading Edge. He flew an upscale mega mosquito-type rocket on a central blue motor, then airstarted a bunch of sparkies around that. Add in all the color-changing LEDs on the rocket and it was awesome!!

With clustering you can achieve some pretty cool effects! I mixed a central I blue and two F skidmarks for a cool flight. It starts at 2:56.
