Hey all,
Still not settled yet, so a few teasers will have to do! I'll post the rest when I get a chance. In the meantime....
Saturday Sampler
Gus vs. Carl N10,000 drag race. Both split fin bullets abused their respective pads.
Bill and Gary from OH's Friggin' huge Fliskits Tres upscale on 3 blue M's staging to a nice sustainer! Missed the liftoff shot however...
The 2014 Wildman drag race for the awesome trophy! 6" V-2's on CTI M3100WT's. Great flame:rocket ratio! 10 participants, one M3700, one didn't light (disconnected leads), one went lowest, one drag separated, one buzzed in, one went highest (Byron). I believe the winning alt was 14,8XX'; I got 14,404'. Thanks Tim for the great drag race and Dr. J (CTI) for the smokin' motor & hardware deal!
Only got one bank...
Preston Nobile flew his first sparky M motor in a 5" Intimidator I think. He was nervous, he was anxious, he did a great job with the motor. Hooting and hollerin' ensued.
Sather Ranum flew the awesome 7.5" Patriot on the awesome M1315W out of an awesome battery box which produced an awesome display of smoke, fire, and, sound. The awesome flight recovered awesomely well!
Frank Nobile flew his Big Red rocket on an N2000W. Nik Byra helped 'cause Preston was still shaking from his sparky M flight.
Manny Ballastero flew his Ultimate Dark Star once his parents showed up on a Clifton M1XXX-ish Bits-n-pieces sparky. Beautiful and majestic! Nice!
Continuing in the theme of home brew sparkage, I tweaked my sparky formula, put it in a 75-7600 case, then into the Green Mamba to produce this:
and this:
Note on the above flight: apologies to Jenny and Gus, I tried to have the Mamba in the sparky drag race, but when the V-2 drag was delayed, by the time I got the V-2 out of the corn, I was out of time. I missed the race by one rack...sorry.
Sunday Sampler
One clown and three most excellent helpers! Thank you so much (from Left to right) Tom Cayemberg, crazy kid, Dr. J. Louwers (who really didn't want to be in the photo), and Dennis Watkins. Not pictured is Speedy Haskins, who took the photo and is bound to produce a nifty video somewhere soon! Thank you all for your help with this silly endeavor!
The third CTI O25,000 knowingly flown at a Rocketry event! Went up in an 8" diameter stubby rocket dubbed
O Boy. Wowza!
DIRT!
Recovery was less than optimal...not a lot of damage, but less than a gentle landing nonetheless. Not sure what happened exactly, but I'll let people know when a root cause is found.
Magnum! I love a classic Loc Magnum! Greg Olson's Magnum (now with a long nose cone) on a new single use K535W. Nice flight, Greg!
That's all for now; more later!
