Why Is Rocket Challenge TV-MA?

Ok, this I don't understand. Someone uploaded some episodes of "Rocket Challenge" to YouTube, and they are all rated TV-MA. Why? There is no content that would constitute this rating. I would think PG max. I just finished watching "Wild and Weird Rockets", and the only thing questionable is a couple of censored curses.

Because someone might hurt themselves?

But no one DID hurt themsleves. I could see it rated MA if someone actually did get hurt, but there weren't any accidents that resulted in injury. The Nike Smoke thing looked a little intense, but that wouldn't warrant a TV-MA rating.

This is just a guess, but maybe they were afraid younger viewers might attempt to emulate some of what they are watching?

Then wouldn't Mythbusters, Smash Lab, Master Blasters, etc be rated TV-MA too?

Perhaps the "Don't try this at home or you'll die!!!!!!" warnings make it 'suitable'?

Yeah, I think it's all the bleeps. I'm not sure if I am thinking of the right episode but there is a part where one of Wildman's rockets (a big one) crashes because the chute didn't inflate correctly. The next scene shows him yelling "*BLEEP* ME" about 30 times and throwing a water bottle around. In a way, I totally sympathize with the guy and I'd be doing the same thing if it were me but it was kind of funny.

So yeah...that's probably it.

30 times? I only heard three. One when the rocket took off, one when it crashed, and one at the crash site.

Frankly, I don't understand why the sound "bleep" would result in a TV-MA rating...

(sorry, one of my pet peeves...)

If they say a "bad word" then bleep it out. If even the "bleeps" are considered "bad words" then mark it TV-MA and leave the darned *word* alone....

And if you can't leave the word alone and you feel you HAVE to "bleep" it out, then bleep out the bleep so that it is "safe" for kids and take the MA rating off...

I will now put my pet peeve back into his little box with the air holes...

I havent seen the videos,but was anyone smoking?
in todays PC world,I guarantee that would rate a MA rating. There are some old NASA videos with a warning."Caution,man contain incidental smoking" You think I'm kidding,check out some of the recently released NASA stuff.

I thought you were serious at first. I though maybe on the first air there may have been a scene with Tim losing it, and they just cut it on re-runs.

Yeah, I'm not good with figure of speech. :lol:

Funny...That is THE program that I watched on TV(Discovery channel?) that drew me back to model rocketry! I recorded it and still have it on my DVR! Just watched it again last week! Cool they have the vids posted on youtube- NO commercials!
