I realize that some of this may be comon knowledge but recient posts have made me realize that assuming everyone has these sources isn't the wisest move. So in the interest of furthering scale rocketry, here's what I've got.

Online scale data sites:
https://web.mac.com/jimgerard/AFGAS/pages/apollo/fvv.html .............photo reference for most manned U.S. space craft
https://www.spaceinminiature.com/ref/ref.html .............photo reference for most manned U.S. space craft
https://www.spacemodeling.org/PeterMcQuillan/ ..............Fhoto reference and some drawings for mercury and Little Joe boilerplate capsules
https://web.archive.org/web/20051228141740/yellowjacketsystems.com/alway/dataphoto.htm ............ Photo reference and drawings by Peter Alway, various subjects, many not published in ROTW
https://web.archive.org/web/20060719004746/members.aol.com/Satrnpress/un_pub.htm ..........More unpublished Drawings by Peter Alway, Saturn launch tower and some Russian Missiles
https://www.myspacemuseum.com/sitemap.htm .........Misc. Apollo diadrams, drawings and Photos
https://homepage.mac.com/srogers4/rockets/scale-data/index.html ..........Photo reference of missiles, Rocket engines and manned boosters
https://homepage.mac.com/georgegassaway/TIPS/contest/scale.htm ..........NAR free scale resource page ( drawings and tools)
https://www.cv41.org/personal/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=9624&g2_page=2 .........Photo reference of Nike Smoke, Bull Pup, Ho Jo, Standard Missile, Talos, Sea Sparrow, Terrier and Tomahawk
https://military.tomsk.ru/blog/topic-183.html .........Russian language site. Photos and some drawings of some obscure (and not so obscure) Russian missiles.

And a couple of scale build pages ( more for ideas and problem solving):
https://www.meatballrocketry.com/ .........Awsome Saturn 1 builds
https://homepage.mac.com/georgegassaway/GRP/AOL/GCGassaway/gcghome.htm .........An archived site of Georges old build pages.
https://homepage.mac.com/georgegassaway/GRP/GRP-home.htm ..........more archived site of Georges old build pages.
https://home.roadrunner.com/~highpowerrocket/ ...........Various HPR scale builds
https://www.rolfstabroth.de/ ........Rolf Stabroths incredible scale builds (Full Stack Shuttle in particular). Intresting solutions to common problems. German language site.

I would like to suggest a few guidelines, mostly to help whoever the poor slob is that ends up having to organize and maintain this data

For one thing, I would like to see everybody put a note off to the right that tells what kind of data is in/at a website. Doesn't have to be long, doesn't even have to be complete sentences (and I don't think we want that anyway), just literally a couple words. Such as:

https://srmsc.org/mis2030.html ........................Spartan and Sprint ABM data

I think when we get about a bujillion entries in this collection and want to start sorting out material by missile subject, a bit of labeling will make things a whole bunch more simple to perform an initial sort (compared to having to open each and every link to see what the subject matter is)

I hope that after all of us TRFers post tons of links that one (or more) of the thread admins will cut-n-paste the separate suggestions into one set of library files. Call me lazy, but I don't want to have to pick through 3,000 separate posts to find all the Saturn V data that is available, I would much prefer to (eventually) be able to scroll down an alphabetical list to "Saturn" and find all the good stuff in one place.

And I think we are going to need a button or something for users to report dead links. Not all those websites out there are forever. People get tired of paying for server space and often decide (without warning) to drop the websites. If there was a way for users to notify the thread admin (perhaps even to show a new link to the same info?) it could greatly reduce the workload to maintain the list.

Speaking of disappearing websites, are we going to allow TRF members to post data from other data websites (even if "copyrighted") as a form of protection against possible data loss (especially if a good website goes completely away)? After all, this is a form of "research" that is exempt from the copyright rules.

Another qstn: does TRF want to host pictures themselves? (as opposed to links to pictures---and those links can go dead). I know pix can take up lots of space. I know there is a temptation to "condense" highly detailed pix (read: mega-sized pic files) but then you lose the very detail that makes the picture important. Some pix are just too good to shrink down if they contain authentic colors, markings, or design features.

Do we want to set limits? Is there an upper limit on storage space? Are we going to try to store anything that a user offers, including obscure missile designs that we think will have little user demand? (in other words, are we only going to concentrate on the "good" ones and turn up our noses at the oddball stuff?) If we make a wide open offer, things could get pretty crowded. Then again, just about everyone has a soft spot for at least one "oddball" that most other people consider to be a waste of time....

I agree, GREAT sugestion. I have edited my original post to reflect this.

Now that I think of it I (and I would guess many others) have a boat load of JPEG and PDF files of drawings (measured and multiviewed) and reference photos of numerous boosters, sounding rockets and missiles. Do we have a database here (TRF) where such files can be contributed and accessed?

Not yet, but there's talk in this thread about setting one up.

Thanks for the list of links by the way, I've stickied this thread so people will be able to find it!

Cheers,
Phil

Awsome! I'll keep a look out. Meanwhile I'll copy my files to a common folder to facilitate a move. Here's to hoping.

I will warn anyone digging through these websites that there seems to be a pattern of some sites posting "dimensions" without specifying which model of the Sidewinder they are talking about (and the models are different-- in length, nose shape, fwd fin shape, weight, and many other details). So, be a little careful what dimensions you grab.

OH MY...a whole page of AIM-9 sites......THANKYOU !

This will be great for my 3" BT scratch project.

There are some pretty good pix of the new MBDA Meteor air-air missile on the website pages below. The missile is a full-scale model currently/recently on display with the F-35 at Farnborough. This example is probably pretty close to the final design, but there is always a chance of more (minor?) changes before it actually goes into production.

Note that the current configuration does not have any "mid" fins, only tail fins. The curved nose shape looks a lot more elongated (higher ratio on the ogive) than the AIM-120.

The pix are all in hi-res, so keep on clicking on the images until you get something that overflows your screen. You will probably want to crop down to the missile itself before you store the pix. The images show details of the launch rail fittings, the shape/taper/tail closure of the ram-air scoops, the base flats under the fins, and especially the detail shape of the nose (ogive? I haven’t analyzed it yet myself). Lots of good exterior data.

Anyway, check out:
Good overall view: https://www.defencetalk.com/pictures/showfull.php?photo=39596
Close view of front end: https://www.defencetalk.com/pictures/showfull.php?photo=39595
Glimpse of aft end detail: https://www.defencetalk.com/pictures/showfull.php?photo=39619 (bottom edge of pic)
Almost head-on view: https://www.defencetalk.com/pictures/showfull.php?photo=39604 (toward bottom)
Killer overall view: https://www.defencetalk.com/pictures/showfull.php?photo=39608

Oh yeah, there’s a cool airplane in the pix too.

You can also go directly to the MBDA web site:
https://www.mbda-systems.com/mbda/site/ref/scripts/EN_HOME.html
It's Flash-heavy, but you can download the pictures. I've gathered a CD with about 300MB and over 1500 pictures, grabbed from the web. Mostly military stuff.

Friends, do you know a solid and usefull BOMARC ressource on the net? I found so far enough pictures but not much REAL scale drawings...

Where has the Jim Ball library gone? The link goes in circles, back to TRF.
THIS STUFF IS TOO GOOD TO LET IT FALL THROUGH A CRACK!
in a related thread asking about AIM-54 Phoenix drawings, I searched the internet archive using the original Jim Ball url and hit paydirt.

But...I agree it is disheartening that this valuable scale resource is wasting away on a hard drive somewhere because the current owner of the ROL website is doing nothing with it.

Do we have a name for this individual? Any way to email or otherwise contact them?

I believe that troj sold all his online model rocket assets to the current owners of this forum.
