I will try to do a better job of remembering to take more pictures as I build. I always enjoy the build threads that do that. Now that I have apologized, here is a picture of my latest scratch build. It is a MPR.

That's a good looking build. Is that an old estes plan or your own? What are the spec's on it? You should try taking a picture with the rocket aginst a darker background so we can see more details on the rocket. A white rocket on a white background isn't working real well. But the nose cone 'pops'.
Here's another photo with a dark background. The photo makes the body look a little white when it is actually a light grey. The model is upscaled from the old Centuri Gabriel kit. I'm also attaching a Rocksim file. Does anyone have any photos or drawings of this rocket? I would like to add decals, but have no clue what to put on it.

I really like this rocket and built a BT-60 upscale a few years ago. Here is the link to my review on EMRR, which also has the specs I used for the upscale. I also had trouble tracking down decals, etc., and to this day haven't added any.
Have you ever seen pictures posted by Micromeister? Who hasn't. There are thousands of 'em. Look at what he's using for a back ground. Looks like colored bed sheets or paper to me.
You should make a note that the colored back ground is also NONREFLECTIVE (no glare from flash). I like to use colored bath towels myself. I have more colored towels then sheets.
Try standing a few more feet back from the rocket, that might help reduce glare off the paint. Take ten pictures from differant positions and angles and post the best five pictures. Or all ten if you like them, it's free.
The more I look at your build, the more I like it. In fact I would like to build my own. I don't have rocksim, would you consider posting all the measurment needed to clone it? Things like lengths of fin edges, how far from the base of the body tubes are the fins placed, type of nose cone used and body tube lengths. Where are those strakes placed and what are their sizes? Pretty much any thing your willing to post.
I have an idea about decals that will work, lets swap info.

Your article was the inspiration for my rocket.

Yes that's very helpful. I need one more thing, what's The measurments from the base of the body tube(s) to the following edge of the fins on both sets of of fins? And post lots a pictures so I can see where all the parts are placed.
Go to www.excelsiorrocketry.com and scroll down to the bottom of the home page and find the e-mail address for a custom decal quote, www.excelsiorcustomdecals-qustion@yahoo.com.
Tell Gordon (owner) about your build in the scratch section on TRF. He'll know how to find it. Tell him there's a commercial drawing of the rocket on a EMMR review, that can be found in post #4 (he's probly seen it before).
In that drawing I can see pin stripes around the air frame in several places and one larger one on the bottom of the motor tube. One of the upper fins has a dark rectangle on both sides of the tip. There's a couple of hatches (you could have more added if you like).
You could add what ever a real missile has on it, like "warnings", "do not lift", S/N's, insignia's, alpha-numeric designation and the like. He has all this stuff drawn up already, it's just a matter of putting what you want on to a decale sheet (well I'm sure there's more to it) . And you'll like the price. You could just have him read this!

Here ya go! I will post more pictures later this week. For the strakes, I put one at the bottom of the upper tube in between each fin. The two short strakes are connected to the leading edge of the upper fins. The upper (larger) fins are placed 1 inch from the bottom of the upper (larger) tube. The lower (smaller) fins are placed 1 inch from the bottom of the lower (smaller) tube.

Alright! Thanks for all the info. I'll be looking for your new pictures. Let me know what you get for decals. I may be able to use them too.
Here are the photos I promised.

Aparently that is the Gabriel 1, an early version of the Gabriel.
All I can find is information on the Gabriel 3 and the Gabriel 5. Nothing on the early version.
Anybody have the markings or a pic of the versin modeled here?

Ok. Thanks for checking. Got any ideas for designs that look scale?

I'll work on it today and send you a pic of what I come up with.
The pic I found is the same one that TLP used on their model and I'm currently working on the decals for that but yours is a bit different.
TLP kit is a BT-80 and yours is a BT-60 so it will be scaled down a bit.
I'll come up with something.![]()

The decals look great. Will you also guide me on suggested placement? PM me a price and I will PayPal you.
Also, yes I think this would be a great two stage build.
Rocksim shows it will also do well on AT 18mm reloads. I built for 24mm but will also make an 18mm adapter.
More pics promised after decals are on.

I guess for placement just go by the pictures. That's what I based the decals on.
The decals are on my web site. Go to "THE LAUNCH PAD decals".
Your BT-60 version is right under The Launch Pad version for $7.00.
Don't forget you were asking about the Pheonix Missile decals too! Be sure to add those to your cart!![]()
