    Q-Modeling Stiletto

I've begun building this kit and I'm very impressed with it's quality. The motor mount parts have an absolutely perfect fit and it only needed a slight bevel on the brace joints to fit into the tube. The fins are nice and fat for airfoiling and the nosecone is good quality as well. I'll definitely buy some of their other kits when I've worked through my build pile. Ted

Does it have balsa or plywood fins? I have their Viper kit and I'm not very impressed by their big honking too-easy-too-dent-even-with-Minwax balsa fins.

The brace for the fins was pretty cool though.

I have the kit and can confirm that it has 3/16" balsa fins.

    Best regards,
    Brian

Three/eighths? My Stiletto has 3/16 balsa fins and the balsa seems to be good quality. After profiling them I'll be coating them with CA to toughen them. Ted

Sorry, I meant 3/16". I will edit my post to avoid any confusion. I agree the balsa is good quality.

    QModeling is tops

My Stiletto flies fine & low on the D12, but comes into its own on an AT F24-7W--by far my favorite motor for this superb flying rocket. The F12-5J is also a good one with a long(er) burn.

Recommend you wrap the kevlar shock cord with a rubber wrap to help prevent zippers. As is, the shock cord will slice through the BT and seperation rings easily (had it happen once).

The kit is a challenge and joy to build. QModleing is a fantastic rocket kit maker--rarely have I ever had such finely created and well fitting parts.

I built the NIKE X and what a beauty it is.On this baby ,the fin stock is all 1/4balsa stock ,the build was very good.To prevent zippers ,I placed a 4" piece of 9/16" tubular nylon shock cord over the Kevlar and dabbed some JB weld on it to keep it in place.

My kit came with a small disc of rubber for a shockcord bumper. I'd guess that they are aware of the zipper issue and provided it to prevent the problem. I plan to fly it on a variety of motors including the F-21 which I can purchase locally.
The Nike-X caught my eye as well. It's the next kit I plan to get from them. Ted

I have the Nikex, Stiletto, & Raptor. Qmodeling makes great lightweight kits.
I have pushed my Nikex with CTI F30 and I have rebuilt it a few times over as I have worn it out a few times. Great flyer. My Raptor xp is 1000 ft plus on a E9-7
My videos are on the Qmodeling site in the reviews section.

    Vega

I have a Vega, flew it on a D-12 a couple weeks ago. Have a pack of E-18 reloads on order, working my way up to F-35.

My kit also has the rubber bumper on the kevlar. Combined with coating the end of the tube with CA, it works great.

I am not so sure about the balsa main fins, so I took measurements and scanned them. When they break, I'll make plywood replacements.

Viper, Rogue, Snooper and Stiletto are all on my bucket list.

    Unhappy

No wonder he wasn't at NERRF last year... Hope you're up for a comeback, Tom! (I'm going to have nightmares about wet cardboard and balsa wood)
