    AT igniter wire: What is the AWG?

    What AWG size wire does AT use for low / HP?

    The only thing I've seen for non-HPR is copperheads, so the AWG doesn't apply. For HPR there are various lengths, but the gauge all seems to be about 28 AWG.

    where can you buy 28 awg? I have 26, buy 28 is hard to find.

    26 should be fine for E-I motors. As long as it doesn't clog the nozzle.

    I've seen several 24/40 cases and 24mm SU composite motors CATO with first fire igniters. I believe the wire plugged the nozzle.

    I make my own igniters and for D-F motors I use 30 AGW wire wrapping wire. It's about $0.15 a foot. The insulation if very thin so it makes a very small diameter igniter. The hardest part is getting the pyrogen to be small enough.

    You can only get it in single strand, but I take a single piece, hook it over a nail, put the ends in a drill and spin till they are well twisted then cut to length. Works great and won't clog nozzles

    Yikes!

    I used a FirstFire in my 24/40 last Saturday, but thankfully it held together.
