Retainers have been sold.
Thanks.
Hi all,
I have these two extra retainers:
54mm Slimline Threaded Retainer system -26.
38mm-54mm Tail Cone Retainer system - 18.
Both are new, in their original ziplocks. Shipping is $5...
They were for scout and other projects that we never got to:

I have some altitude rockets here -- some new, a few have flown (the 38mm went to 16K+).
From left to right:
38mm, conical cone, has ebay in nose. Giant Leap glass tubing, G10 fins. 35" long....
All sold.
Thanks!

Price lowered on the composites and shrink tubing.... :)
These are beautifully crafted. Unused. I believe I bought them for a 54mm min diameter but I'm sure they will work for other diameters.
Root-- 8 5/8"
Leading edge: 6 3/8"
Span: 3"
End cap: ...
Sold. Thanks
Hello all-
Here's a parachute I haven't used. It's 7'6" across (see ruler in middle for scale) and is in great shape. I think it was originally for a large flare. The material is light and has a...
Here is a picture from 2009 -- same rocket, same motor, but one main chute:
http://troop85.net/gallery/RocketNov09/Ready_to_fly_002
Just to wrap this up-
Final configuration for the mains was a parabolic 110" chute on the end of a 35' tubular nylon, with a B2 Cert L halfway up. Nose cone on a separate chute. Flight on an M1450...
One more thought:
I notice this calculator takes into account drogue drag too:
http://archive.rocketreviews.com/tool_descent_rate.shtml
I was going to use a 36" drogue but could go to 48" or even...
Slimline retainer and a borrowed 98mm case hit first. The main tube has some internal glass but could kink on impact.
I measured the larger chute and it's 110" over the top. So the Rocket Rage...
Thanks for the Spherachutes chart -- it suggests the 10' one is on the upper end of descent speed but could work okay if playa isn't rock hard on launch day.
Yup. RocStock Sunday morning.
My gut says it would come in a bit too fast for the hard playa but I'm not certain. I just checked and the launch site elevation is 2900 feet. I know the descent is faster than sea level but am not...
That was the configuration in past years (although we don't use bags) and it worked great each time. This year the main rocket will have two chutes rather than one, otherwise all is the same, with...
Thanks for the info. Unfortunately we don't have experience with deployment bags or time to learn in the next five days -- would wrapping each chute in a nomex burrito, open at the top, and nesting...
Not sure if this should be here or in the recovery section....We have an M-powered 13' scout rocket that will come down as 31 lbs for the booster section. We had one of those white 15' chutes...
We have a shroud too for a GoPro (which has since busted -- we are going to use a couple of quick and dirty keychain HD cameras this time). Compared to that washing machine video, ours is tame --...
This sounds like an idea that is relatively easy. The fins are 1/4" ply with a carbon layer and a fiberglass layer over that --stiff but relatively thin. I have the usual rounded leading edge and...
That sounds effective but complicated -- I'm mainly trying to get a sense if a small fin tab glued to trailing edge will be enough to lessen spin given speed (rocket will tickle mach but generally be...
We have a 7.5 inch x 12.5 feet boy scout troop rocket going up for the third time on an M1450. It has a clockwise spin which makes the video less than ideal. I was hoping to counteract it. It spun...
From a Competitor 5 that has been repurposed.
Fin set, electronics board plate, and the long ogive nosecone....
It's up on ebay through Sunday:

Two nice sealed older kits. They are BT-50 sized and take B and C motors. Harpoon is a two-stager. On ebay:...
Sealed and in its box. Unfortunately I don't have time right now to build this sweet kit. Price is 50. plus 8 to ship it well padded.
Thanks,
Tallman
Moved it to Ebay under Tallman16
Really wanted to build this Rokitflite gem but don't have the time now. It's #18 in production and signed and is just plain gorgeous and stuffed with exquisite parts. I supposes it's a collector's...
