Well, if it did work you may have a closer look to what happen to the chute. At this point it looks like you shroud lines got tangle when X-15 was upside down when chute came out. So, it wouldn't...

Looks like you guys have a video camera in one of picture I see on the back of X-15. If so, you may have a better look at the chute to see what happen?
