Karl - LUNAR launch at Moffett Field, tomorrow (Saturday 9/25), 9:00 am!! Don't miss it. Unless you are at BALLS or TCC launch!
Hmmmm... Still in the garage... HP 35 calculator (1973?). Oh yeah, TRS Model 100 (1984) with modem and cassette. Got rid of the Altair 8800 and ELF-II and OSI and Apple 2+ many years ago. Still...
this is a really great thread!
I've had three of these. the first one never worked.
the second never worked with batteries. I found a 12VDC wall wart and connected it, we'd run it in the...
thanks for posting your pix! you got some good shots.
LUNAR (http://www.lunar.org) has a photo gallery on the web site ("Gallery" quick link on the left leads to...
UK is on my list of places to never visit again.
I think things really are more expensive in UK. for example, reading New Scientist and looking at the ads, after considering exchange rate most professional jobs pay about half what they do in the...
black friday is also called "national buy-nothing day". we stayed home & entertained ourselves, nearly made it through the entire day, but at about 4:30PM the car dealer called and said the van we...
OK - mine glued together without any issues, now I gotta find that can of white acrylic (foam-safe) spray paint.
only issue on my construction is the dummy that glued the MMT together (me) didn't...
oh yeah, it's really good looking.
clearly derived from S-75 Divina / SA-2 Guideline - one of my all-time favorites

clearly no infringement there.
McDonalds is also famous for overreaching, for McEverything.
In fact I think I'll invent something called McEMouse, and get McDonalds, E-Bay, and Disney going...
oooohhh, I want a Delta X-15!!
love the xbox rocket!! that's a great design.
as you've already figured out, some stuff hasn't changed (igniters cough cough), but everything else is vastly superior now - we have glues that...
that is just great! can't wait to see it in November.
quick update, my Mongoose did a little better this year with another CTI N1100 & the Von Karmen nose - 34,270'. woot! plus this time we got it back in about 30 minutes. next year, same rocket but...
every one of the 7 clubs I've flown with does this.
going cheap - another vote for Crayon rockets!
use 1/8" plywood throughout, for the two MMT rings and the fins. build it light (use yellow glue & good technique) and you can fly it on F & G...
congrats, we're all cheering for you!! post an update and tell us about the meeting. let us know when and where you are launching!!
well, we went to see Spamalot last night - opening night in San Jose. it was really funny and the cast sang and danced their everything off.
ummm, you guys are all rocketeers, first class. you can modify the nose cone to be the shape you want. wrap some paper cones around it. glue sections of other nose cones on it. find interesting...
get an RX-8 - better performance, half the price! plus, cheaper to insure because it is a "4-door".
also, add a "Mass" item in the payload bay, to cover the electronics & battery. you ought to weigh it but something like 100 grams is likely close enough (9v batteries weigh about 50g).
I built my Cyclotron completely stock, used WEST epoxy for all the joints. It's flown on J420s a few times. it's a great rocket, don't worry about how sturdy it is.
I watched this thread with...
would you be willing to upscale decals to fit a 4" diameter?
right now on the work bench - Quest Tomahawk SLCM, built in 2002, painted white, flown 10 times, repaired fins a couple times. needs decals.
Quest Force 5, built in 2007?, painted white, flown a...
... heat range of epoxy - now there's an interesting subject!
personally I've never had any issues in epoxy joints or laminations, caused by overheating. people worry about motor mounts but...
always nice to get some press, but, wow, reporters can really get simple stuff so wrong.
hopefully some new folks will visit at the next club launch.
I'm with Sandman & mkadams - been using WEST for over 25 years, first on boats & various things, lately for rockets. no real complaints. only got the "amine blush" once and it cleaned right up.
