The Viking is a great sport rocket. I built mine using all 5 fins. You may want to reconsider the C6-7 flight though.:)

I would like to wish each of you on TRF a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Stay safe and enjoy the precious memories you will make. It has been a great pleasure being a part
of this...
All my life I've wanted to be retired.
I have a 1945 edition of "Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo" written by Capt. Ted
Lawson who was first pilot on the B-25 "Ruptured Duck" which took part in
the Doolittle Raid. I decided to start reading...
That is too bad. Here in NE Fla. we have been battling several fires that
have consumed us in smoke. The fire danger index is rising and I fear that
mine and other rocketeers' launches may very...
Marc, Like you, I am a member of 3 different rocketry forums and a couple of
other different ones. TRF is the one I am on mostly. Although I am not as
active in posting as some of the others I...
Thank you for posting the links. It is a great song. The man definitely
had talent. I assume he wasn't all that old? No older than in his 50's,
which is young to me.
You know, life can indeed be short. My condolonces to you. I appreciate
your posting this. It reminds me to look at my relationships with others in
light of the fact that you never know when...
This afternoon, my wife and I decided to go out for a steak dinner. I'm now
on spring break this week (I'm a 3rd grade teacher). After dinner we drove
5 minutes to the local Hobby Lobby. We both...
It is interesting to see how that Wizard fin broke off. And it landed in
grass at that! Any chance of using a longer streamer or chute next time?
Will you try to reglue that piece or cut it off...
They came to Jacksonville, Fla. in the summer of '66 or '67. Tickets were
around 3 dollars each.
There is a great website dedicated to Jonny Quest. It has just about
everything you could imagine. You may find some photos, etc. of the
Dragonfly. Quite possibly, the owner of the site might...
One thing I did notice. Having seen this episode a zillion times since the
mid-70's (and I will admit the 60's), bits and pieces of scenes have been
cut out. My favorite was when the Enterprise...
My daughter and I just finished watching the episode. We saw the part where
Sulu's bag was taken. Shortly after, he is shown putting film in the bag. How
did he get the bag back? My daughter...
Glen,
Check with the principal or whoever the administrator is for the school
where you will be working. There is usually a policy where students have to
have signed permission to watch PG...
Well, I'll tell you. It did whip. To get it where I wanted, I did my end like a
whip which got it pointed in the right direction. At the same time I would have
to push it upward and let it catch...
Eventually, the rocket will come down. My daughter has a small remote
controlled helicopter that she got stuck about 40ft. up in an oak tree branch
in our backyard. With the help of 40ft of 1/2"...
Having launched Quarks, Mosquitos, etc., and if the motor was 1/2A3-4T,
they may not be as far as you think. If you are like me, you will not give up
until they are found.
You know, it's a funny thing. I was in Hobby World 2 days ago and almost
bought a Viking to replace one I had lost long ago. I ended up buying a
Hyper Bat and Mini Honest John. As I left,...
It is low power rocket, A-C motors. I'm guessing, but I believe the thickness
of the fin is about 1/16 of an inch. Pretty small fins.
Last night, one of my dogs chewed 2 fins off my Black Diamond. Could anyone please suggest what specific cardboard-type material I should use
to make new fins?
It was in the low to mid 70's, typical for this time of year. The best time to
launch rockets here in NE Fla. is from around Oct. through May, roughly speaking. The summer months are unbearable....
My daughter and I spent about 2 hours this afternoon launching some rockets
we had built together. Here are a few pics. The removable fin from the
Flutter By landed on the asphalt and both fins...
I would really like to have the Mosquito combo kit from Estes. That, and
probably several basic sport rockets. I could kick myself for not joining
Secret Santa!
When my family and I visited Kennedy Space Center over the summer, I
remember seeing that footage as part of some presentation on the history
of rocket flight. If I remember correctly, the U.S....
Please know my heart and prayers go out to you and your family.
Marty
Do you personally know of anyone in the area that uses that field to launch
rockets? If you did, you might contact them. If not, I probably would take
the rocket and try to salvage what I could...
I do envy you. The temp. and humidity were low today. Had plans to launch
a few, but just couldn't get away from chores. Rockets with mini engines
are my favorite. They are sleek and perform...
I have been patiently waiting for the Hyperbat. Originally, it was to be out
this past summer. The mini Comanche 3 looks great. Gotta have one of
those!
