One other consideration: You post that you will tether the rocket to the balloon. Gotta tell you that isn't going to work, especially if you are going mach 1+. You will end up either breaking the...
If they can't recognize a CTI case, they probably shouldn't be doing your certification. You're doing CAR Level 1 then you're flying a 29 or 38 case....shouldn't be that hard, especially when you...
Kevlar is a great choice. Leave the elastic for underwear. Scrapping the baffle is good because you can fly anything on it (I think the CTI H87 imax was made for it) Nomex is a much better choice....
this topic is, i believe, out of bounds for the general forum. Please repost there and we will be happy to answer.

zippers aren't caused by the size of the chute but how fast it decellerates the rocket.
if youre delay is too short or too long, the rocket will be going fast. When the chute pops open you run...
I had one of those to build. Wish I had a build fairy
none. it's too light. If you feel compelled to deploy more then shock cord, use a streamer - and a small one. I fly mine without anything at all.
I actually used 1 1/2 coupler tubes and stiffys...
Great build thread and you have even better equipment! I'm jealous!
One comment, you don't need to make your motor tube as long as the longest motor you want to use, just the fin can (plus the...
lives in spring valley, CA and had them Craig's listed but has removed the listing (or it was removed)

Bob:
You're absolutely right, as always. I tend to fly all of my rockets slightly away from the cars, and have even not flown on days when the winds are blowing back over the cars. It's just a...
Perfect for my Bullpupp-P. PM Sent.
Nomex. It's easier and doesn't clog.
JMHO.
Your fins are troublesome from the perspective of fin flutter, which affects fins with longer spans. While speed is important, it's not the entire story. Plywood is more susceptible to flutter then...
Think I can help you, check your PM
My modular Gizmo XL Dual Deploy stretched uses 1/4x20 screws with T nuts epoxied to the inside. There are 3 inline with the fins for each connection. Works great!
Unless you're a junior, I don't get it. Just do what works for the rest of us.
There is a CO2 powered system, but it still uses a small quantity of bp (rouse-tech) or quest ignitors (tinder)
Spanked my Gizmo on a K2045 for it's first flight. Everyone thought it was crazy but it landed about 200 feet from the pad!
Everyone has their own style.
Look at fliskits, he has lots of cool stuff. He has builder's kits, there's lots to do on all of them, but his designs are second to none. Just go slow and if you get stuck, post questions or email...
Enough BP will push out anything. You should look at EMMR and get the BP calculator. You might be surprised. on a 8 inch rocket with 3 4-40 shear pins and 36 inches of length (waay more space then...
not so much. The stock mirage has a 29 motor mount, and the smallest J is a 38. So you'd need to change out the motor tube and centering rings, then trim the tabs on the fins....then it might work,...
Get Modern High Powered Rocketry.
Look at the Wildman line as well. A wildman JR (or darkstar JR, ect) is a great L1 bird. It's fiberglass so it's hard to break. an H won't get you more then...
my 29/240 case I did my level 1 with is still going strong after more then 40 flights.
126414126415Here's the pictures I promised. My son did a great job of connecting the igniters to make it work.

All you need is wood glue. Check the website strength of HPR materials and you will find that the cardboard tube will fail long before the wood glue.
Landings are better helped with slower...
Plastic might work for a few G's and smaller rockets. Yes, areopacks are more expensive, but you get what you pay for. H's are more powerful then G's.
Are you willing to risk your expensive cases...
I certed a rocekteer on a H with her mirage. It was stock except for you must remove the baffle and steel wool-otherwise there isn't enough room for the motor. The original design is for a hobby...
missed that. There's and easy fix for that = aeropack. Never loose another case...they're waay more expensive the the retainer.
