Cut my fins from 3/32" birch plywood and used the Estes fin jig ~ which worked pretty well considering the body is 4" and I had to raise it up:

Life keeps getting in the way of rocketry ~ so I'm much further behind on this project than I had hoped to be.

The recovery system anchors are in, and the head base (for the head of the android)...

This weekend if I have time I plan on cutting the fins. Ran to Home Depot and picked up a contour gauge ~ this will be a life saver!!!!

Got the center rings in (dry fit here). The motor tube runs almost the entire length of the rocket ~ so I added an outer core to the motor tube where the recovery system will be stowed to help...

The cone is already epoxied but it's a very light weight tin. Cut it with a dremmel in a matter of minutes. I opted for tin since the motor will be slightly recessed to hide it [EDIT 5/30/13: thought...

What you are seeing here is a (negative) chemical interaction between the different types of paints. A loooong time ago I was in autobody. You will probably have to wetsand down, prime, wetsand again...

Yeah all that and more! I didn't use my nylon locknuts on my prototype. Spring deflection is an issue with this prototype as well. Would need to seal them in a tube to correct that.
