One thing I have always done is fasten the wiring to the launcher, either with tape or some sort of clip. I've never had a rocket try to take the launcher along :)

Just finishing up a Fliskits Frickn'Frack. Next up on the workbench though is a Semroc Gee-Hod along with continuing work on my L3 Ultimate Wildman project.
The queue consists of
Fliskits...
Get a few of those F10 motors from Apogee. Love that looooong burn :)
I believe that's my PML Tethys on a vintage Rocketflite H220 Silver Streak. A bit hard to tell but seems to have the right shape and colorings.
No pics this time, but more work has gotten done over the long weekend. The inside fillets are all done, both on the fin root and the inside booster to fin joint. Tomorrow I'll start on the...
It's all flat straps, so they must have. For as often as I will be likely to fly this beast, that should work out OK but tubular would probably have been nicer.
Just got back from a business trip and was happy to see a box waiting for me. This is what it had inside...

The only real suggestion I can make is to have the LCO take a moment at each volunteer shift changeover and read off the names of the incoming volunteers. I know I missed one of my shifts due to...
Yes that was the one. My very last Silver Streak :(
I later flew my Escape Velocity on an old Vulcan H motor that also worked perfectly. This gives me great hopes for my remaining Aerotech I95!...
It was indeed a great day Saturday, with only a few small raindrops late in the day that were even hard to notice.
I'm taking it slow this year, only flying twice on Saturday after a very late...
Does anyone know if it will be possible to join Metra at the field? I just realized I never got around to doing that. Thanks!
In my opinion you really can't go wrong with the AeroTech Initiator and Mantis pad starter set. I lost the Initiator last year but at that point the system was probably close to 15 years old. I...
Thanks, and yes, I'm with you 100%. :)
I noted in that posting that drilling for wire ties on the batteries was one of the remaining things to be done. The holders are box shaped, so the 9V...
Got some more work done on the avionics. Here's the nearly completed sled:

Here's my solution to how to get the endcap easily...
Hahaha - yep, and my sled is only about half length :D
There will definitely be room for a camera bay after the Cert flight.
Today's progress was light. Got one fin glued on at the root after drilling the injection holes and fiddling a way to sand them smooth with the motor mount already in :) DUH! I also added a hand...
Exact same problem I had. It definitely has a conical shape. After much sanding I got it to go in one way, so that's the way I'm using it :D
This is true :)
I forgot to do that on mine and I just spent the morning drilling the holes and fiddling around with various ad-hoc tools to get the fuzzies sanded off. Would have been so much...
Well done! Congrats on the L3!
Good day's work today. Got the rail button mounts all done and the internal fillets on the forward CR are set. I used a 1/4-20 threaded insert into a hard maple block, so those railbuttons...
Another few bits of progress. Got the AvBay end caps all built and ready to go, just needing the wiring which will come once I lay out the sled. I used a Large set of Blastcaps for the charge...
Still making slow progress. Being ready for NERRF is looking shaky though unless I can really make up some ground. We'll see.
Got started on the AvBay - switch band is on and the vents have been...
Godel, Escher and Bach by Douglas Hofstadter.
Do keep an eye on the website at www.crmrc.org. We are likely going to move the June High Power launch up a week due to a lot of member conflicts, so maybe it wouldn't impact your local launch this...
The Champlain Region Model Rocket Club had its May launch today in St. Albans, VT and what a spectacular day it was. Nicely warm at around 65-70 degrees and an absolutely clear blue sky. Wind was...
Personally, I like my LOC kits. My Magnum was rock solid until I lost it about 10 years ago on a K250, after having lost it the year prior and getting it back when some hunter found it after like 6...
I think I've decided in a slight change of direction for the recovery attachment. The more I look at it, the less I like the idea of drilling holes in the forward CR. With a 4" mount and a 6" tube,...
Thanks! Yeah, I think I need a spoon with a slightly smaller radius :D
On the plus side, it ain't going anywhere!
A little more progress finally! Real life sure has a way of getting in the way :D
Got the middle CR on after measuring and marking carefully to make sure the fins fit snugly in between so they...
Lotta Ultimate projects starting up - this will be fun to watch :)
