Your ejection charge DOES have to be in a tightly sealed container. You need to ensure that all of the BP ignites when desired.

One of the things I have done with some larger rockets to get a larger adhesive contact surface is to get extra tube and cut it in to strips and lay it up so that you have a strip of tube on each...
