I used to build glueless delta-type gliders all the time back 15-20 years ago. Mainly used chrome tape plus double-stick tape for these, and usually flew on C5-3s. Largest one I've done in this...

I think I sorta remember you from the old TTRA back in Z-hills....glad you remember some of those ancient gliders from then! Yea, I love that 'beefy meat in the sky' that you get with these things. ...
Bear in mind that I'm driving a Hyundai Accent, not what you'd expect to put big stuff into. As far as the Maxi Astron SST goes, I measured the car's internal critical dimensions, and *then* built...
Yes, probably, although I'm not flying anything 'big'.
Back around 15-20 years ago, I used to use these things *incessantly* for lower weight 38mm glider pod tubing since I flew so many H & I birds back then. Now, the tubes I got were probably stronger...
Excellent, Scott, most excellent!!
I've flown so many saucer gliders ala Invaders I've lost count. Biggest I ever did was the 50" disc flown on a J350 back in 1996 or so. Needed *5lbs* of nose...
When that vid first started, the first thing through my mind was 'whys the lower half of the rocket buried in the ground' :o
Thanks for such a fabulous sale!! I just got that big ole box saying 'LOC Magnum' on it today!! :D
Yes, you heard right. A *LOC Magnum*. What?? AstronMike.....getting a 3FNC rocket, a *KIT* no...
That looked great on video, Frank!!
Sure gave an imposing 'meat in the air' looking glide too. Would a G38 be too much here on the main wings? Still wishing/waiting for AT to re-release the G33...
That one was just 1mm Depron rolled in like a 6" circle, with a tad of overlap, since the internal stuffer tube and C-rings had all the support. As you saw, it flew OK, a wimpy charge did not help...
I like this a *lot*!! If you can control the boost well, this should be quite fantastic to see, I can't wait!!
Nice going there, glad to see this hashed out!!
This reminds me of the flexie RGs I used to fly, about this same size, over 20 years ago. Of course, mine were not RC, and the largest I ended up...
What??! WHAT?!! Oh, wait, *he* lives nowhere near here, that's right.....
All those looked great, Frank, especially the Bomarc! The Jayhawk in boost and flight looks eerily similar to a lot of my stuff, wished I had RC tech and xp to make those really tick. Now, that X20...
Nicely done again, Frank!!
That Tomahawk looked *weird* going up ever so slooooowly, then gliding back slower than you'd think it 'should'. Now, that Jayhawk....that sure looked like my old...
That sure beats the old 'stick two extra rods in the ground' trick to keep HPR gliders centered for take-off. Yes, take-off, since they are aircraft (sorta).
Looking forward to this next weekend...
Always love seeing your builds, and videos, Frank. That Tomahawk oughta look both neat and weird gliding slowly as you RC it around!
Great work, Ari!!
Here's hoping for a very successful L1 flight and many more to follow!!
Glad to see you still flying both this and the Bomarc!! I reckon you still have G33s or access to them yet....still waiting for AT to rerelease them.....
...
That looks like a good solid vehicle there, Ari. That H54 seems good for this, especially if your bird is neither too light nor heavy and you can control it on the way up. I've flown some HPR...
Man, I can't wait to see this fly firsthand!!
That is just my easy ole Mini Bomarc LV, which indicates 'light version' since it's made of cardstock (one ply) and Depron. How many 2" diameter Bomarcs do you see flyable on just a C6? And, these...
Aaah, glad to see you've posted your flights from yesterday on here! Glad we both got 7 flights in each with no real damage.
What do you mean by 'last launch of the season'?? I sure hope you can...
Mark (Closet Astronaut),
Thanks again for inviting me to fly with you and your family today!! Glad I 'detrimmed' some of those birds....especially when I saw how close we were to those campers...
Not Depron, nor Readiboard for sure!! No, blackboard, the dense dark foamboard, which is stronger than the white stuff, two plyed with a coating of epoxy as well. That's the Maxi Astron SST I need...
For one, an extra 10% off your orders, and also you get to see the SAM Forum on YORF, among other things. Also get a *free* SAM-3 rocket kit and some other small goodies (not sure if they are...
I'll have an even better time if you loan me that 38/600 motor I think I see there :y: and assuming there's an I284 to be had!!
That's probably what Rocketbuilder likely thought when he first met me and now really knows how I 'build' and 'fly' :eyepop: 30 years from now...he shall be ME!!! Bwahahahahahaaahhh!!
I've sort of thought about trying like a 10" diameter sport scale Saturn V primarily made of Depron w/Readiboard internals. Should be flyable on a G64, depends upon how well the as-yet unflown...
