First NERRF I've missed, but it was my daughter's high school graduation that weekend.

Didn't see the sold out button - sorry about that!
I think there were pics on Ye Olde Rocketry Forum a while back, at least of the Redstone. I've seen photos somewhere of the Gemini and Atlas,...

George Gassaway was working on a 1/110 stack with the Guillow's foam orbiter. I don't know what's become of the idea of...
Neubauer Rocketry makes really nice 1/100 Mercury Redstone, Atlas, and Gemini Titan flying models, in scale with the Estes Saturn V and the clone-able Saturn 1B. They're pretty reasonable and...
Decals.
Marc,
The BMS kit is a clone of the original Snooper. $35 may seem pricey, but with all those cones (7), tubes, adapter, and laser cut fins, you're going to be up there if you get the parts...
Better photos.
Finally painted. White upper surfaces on both. The orbiter bottom is black and the booster's is silver. I'll get better photos tomorrow.

And the cardstock cockpits added. If it ever stops raining I can paint the top coats. I have some decals I think I can put to good use with this.

Winglets are balsa, sanded a bit thin. They are delicate. Same nose cone, but the booster and orbiter cone shapes are slightly different.
They both glide pretty nicely, by the way, when hand...
After the second coat of primer, most of which I'll sand off, like the first. Still not sure of a scheme, and I will probably fly it before final painting, so I don't waste the paint if it doesn't...
Yes, a C6-3 is the only one you can use. This was made for the C5-3, but you can't get those anymore. I still have a few packs stashed away.
Carl, the cones are awesome, really light and tight grain. I'm just trying to scrape every gram I can out of this!
Hornet Driver - I love that effect and may steal your technique!
Drew
Thanks, guys.
As far as stability goes, the original Centuri design was (mostly) stable. My Blast from the Past clone flies great, although it has vacuum formed nose cones that really help the...
I had an extra set of laser-cut orbiter parts from a Blast from the Past Rocketry Space Shuttle kit, so I put together another stack. I liked the look of the concept designs with both orbiter and...
Here's mine. Along with the Odyssey, two of my favorite kits. Hey Scott, it's way past time for another!
Drew
Ditto what Bill said; this is an awesome rocket and Scott's kits are incredible: great parts and extremely thorough instructions.
Drew
Thanks:o I actually haven't been too active lately and am trying to get my rocket mojo back.
White is Trim Monokote: build thread here:...
Yes and no . . . :eyeroll:
The best I've gotten is a fast, fairly steep "glide." It's pretty cool to watch, actually.

Here's mine, cloned a few years ago with Semroc parts.

One of my favorites, cloned a few years ago. A beautiful rocket off the pad.

Yes, Mike Jerauld made them using that name. Really amazing kits, excellent instructions and parts. He also did a run of Mach-10s. This must have been at least 8 years ago.
Drew
Also the Semroc kit. I tried to duplicate the catalog scheme and used a boatload of masking tape!

A couple of years ago I got the Thrustline repro Spaceman kit and decided to make it a bit more original.

.
This is actually the Blast From The Past Rocketry kit from a number of years ago. Fantastic kit! The cones are vacuum formed and weigh next to nothing. Balsa was all laser cut. The gliders are...
I made this with Semroc parts before they kitted it. The roll pattern was (tediously) cut from black decal paper.
Drew
Thanks! For some reason I thought the catalog scheme had red, but it appears to be yellow. I'll post in the gallery.

Cloned with an Estes Wildfire(?) cone - I think that was the kit name. Same one in the SkyWriter. Decals from Excelsior. I used chrome TrimMonokote for the silver wrap and had Excelsior print the...
I built mine a few years ago before Semroc released the kit, but they had all the parts. I had to sand the BT coupler and passport coupler down a lot as well.

Paul's wraps are fantastic. They are much more scale in detail than the old Centuri/Estes version. Here's the clone I made with them a few years back.
