Josh, you don't have to be a member of either to fly at an SSS event.
Is that paint or vinyl? Ridiculous color scheme. Great job.
You're going to need a new set of bino's to track that thing.
I tried to make a ruhbarb pie but couldn't find a pan long enough...lolFunny lady. I saw an interview last year with Rosie Odonnell. Phyllis Diller was awesome and Sharp as a tack. She was a car gal...
Thought I'd post up the address to the company I recommended (Shelter Systems) for pipe shelters. I didn't realize they were so far down the totem pole in a Google search.www.Shelsys.com I think...
I'm sure Captain Low-n-Slow is plotting his next 4" x 10'er to fly on a single D12-3 as I type. Stay on the mend, Brotha.
EZ-Up with steel frame, not aluminum is about as bullet proof as you are going to get in a pop up. Buckle up because they are 3x the cost of an aluminum frame unit. This is not the one you want to...
All good tips. The fact of the matter is you don't know until you know. There is a difference between structural epoxy and laminating resin. Just Google it. Nice effort. It's more than I've been able...
When in doubt, contact the manufacturer. I love Mercury kits. The Grave Danger will eat any E, F & G motor you throw at it and ask for more. I have also seen two awesome H cert flights as well.
Never used one myself. I just use a rag to tighten or loosen. Think of closures like an oil filter, a touch passed snug is tight enough. If you get a stubborn one, just use your teeth.
Tube fins for sure. I've used three fins per tube fin in OR it show an error but the sim does correlate to an identical Rocksim file.
Sweet, my favorite sport-scale missile. I've planned on doing one for some time now, along with many other upscale that haven't yet made it to fruition. I'm sure you can relate.
That's cool. Looks like it was influenced a bit by the Fliskits Rockstar.
Wayne, brush the cracks with some plasti-struct or other plastic welding compound, sand it sown, primer, paint and call it good. I use whatever its called in the orange labeled bottle.
He was the oldest living heart transplant recipient. I love watching the old videos about racing the cobra and GT40 at LeMans and how he both scared and pissed off Enzo Ferrari to the point of...
All of the above. In theory, I think its a decent idea and use it myself in three or four motor clusters. In reality none of them will fire at the same time but it can't hurt to utilize the option.
When you do send it up, you may want to off set your ejection charges with two five second and one seven second.
Copy that.
Skip the craft stores and run to Walmart or any office store. With a bt80 to 24mm you are going to need quite a few layers of 110lb card stock. What are you using for fin material? I'd use balsa or...
I've never played with blue tube so I can't speak with experience. My guess is t is plenty strong on its own and glass is not necessary. Look into a lamenting epoxy to coat it if you are afraid of it...
What motor mount are you going with, 24 or 29? Are your fins through the wall? All that can make a difference as to what I would use. Personally, regardless of motor mount bp or RMS reload, I'd go...
I wonder if the paint would stick better if you started with a flat base coat or coughed up a gloss coat with a scotch pad. One can always shoot with clear when its all said and done.
You just won The Best Attitude of the Year award. Congrats on your AWESOME build and crash.
Must be early because I didn't even think of that. Great point. Again, shouldn't be a problem with glass or metal but that solvent can soak into paper tubing and outgass like crazy.
I don't think I'd use a solvent on anything other than fiberglass or metal. Once paint is cured its not too bad to sand. A little elbow grease is a lot easier than the boogered up mess a solvent can...
Your booster config should be fine for liftoff. My only concerns are: 1. 12" gap may be a bit long for accurate ignition of sustainer. 2. Will the C11 provide enough coast speed to keep it from...
Nice job. This is a great little rocket that screams on an H-128.
I'm with Alex. We have a 3" Mercury Eng Invader with 40+ flights on everything from single D12 to triple E9's. Fins are surface mounted balsa laminated with 110lb card stock.
I like to primer the tubes and fins before I start filling tube spirals or fillets.
