I modified the Easystar to a v-tail and tried it out today flying in a strong gusty wind at the launch site. It was much less stable in the roll direction and it took quite a bit of work to keep it...
Really nice second launch aerostadt. Are you going to develop that any further eg RC?
Or I could put a balsa v-tail on my Easystar.
It sounds daunting Ari given my knowledge of programming and software is absolutely minimal. If I was to purchase an APM2.5 I would probably have to buy an electric v-tail glider as well to test it...
I am putting together an updated version of the glider. Here is a photo of the carbon fibre frame roughly assembled with filament tape at this point. I am waiting on some more carbon fibre, hinges...
Thats the sort of thing i had been hoping to achieve with the Rogallo wing glider, but I am not past the 1000 foot mark yet! Hopefully it will make it on the next launch. Perhaps a Rogallo glider...
I have changed the colour of the wing to give better visibility. Changed the nose cone from home made to machined and modified it to take the 808 keychain camera. Also altered the tail mounting...
I am under pressure now!
I just bought a 16gb micro sd card to replace the 2gb and the camera is now working. Ooops!
thanks for the suggestions Ari, Frank ,Luke
can anyone suggest a camera which is reliable?
back to the drawing board
sounds like it is just a matter of luck whether they work or not!
that seems like a possibility did you try another brand?
A very impressive fly past on final approach Frank
I have the basic instructions which came with it and followed a Youtube instruction video. The indicator light is flashing as it should when i press the buttons but nothing is recording on the SD...
Just wondering if anyone has used the #3 808 keychain camera? I have bought one to mount in the nose cone of the glider. I am following instructions but it doesn't seem to be saving anything on...
Here is the video of the last 30 seconds of the glide. It had already been flying for about 37 seconds. Apologies for the quality of the video, will try to do better next time. And the landing...
We launched the glider again today and this was by far the best flight as far as duration was concerned though the height was 60ft less than the previous one. The booster climbed to 928ft(282 mr)...
Beautiful graceful flights Frank.
Fantastic photos Ari. The booster idea is amazing. Where to after that????
Here is a video of the glider deploying from the booster showing the unfolding of the wings and the v-tail.

thanks for the ideas Rush ,i have been trying for a taut wing but as you say it may be better to have the wing billowing at the back. I have successfully 'thrown' it with a taut wing and had...
Thanks for the wise suggestion Frank. I'm hoping that i can get at least one decent flight without any more foolish mistakes. I want to prove that the glider is definitely capable of sustained and...
The main error made on this launch was to stand way too close to the launch pad-around 40meters. The rocket flew over us and when the glider deployed it was of course practically invisible. Also I...
We launched the rocket again today. The conditions were clear with no wind. The rocket climbed to 988 ft this time as compared with 616ft on the first launch. The differences were 1500gm wgt about...

The glider is ready for another flight. The main obstacle at the moment is the windy weather which rarely stops this time of year and a new housing estate is beginning to creep across the launch...
That is a good suggestion. It has taken a few years to get to this point. The whole process of building and sourcing parts then having the right opportunity to launch is very time consuming.
