@Aviator,
Rest-assured, all safety precautions will be taken, and the last thing our client needs is a viral video in which someone gets hurt. As I mentioned earlier, I've been doing this since...
I respect that Jeff, but we're supposed to be having fun with this hobby. Also for the record, the first rocket I flew was in 1970.
A parasite is probably the better way to go in most cases, but...
If this does the same our mission will be accomplished.
Not a bad idea, Bear. I might do that if we decide to go with the foam glider at a later date, although a 4' wingspan foam glider probably would need a separate motor pod.
The whole purpose of...
Dude, I get it. I really do.
Chill out a little, OK? We are talking about something powered by a 1/2A motor...4.5 foot-ounces of thrust. But if you want, I'll call the fire department, make sure...
This is what it turned out to be. Test throws show it has minimal lift, but flies fast. I think if it launches at 20 degrees it will nose straight up, do a loop after motor ejection, then return to...
The forward wings rise about 5 degrees from the center of the fuselage. The rear stabilizer is canted about 2.5 degrees or so to create lift under glide. Did a quick OR on it and with a 1/4A it flies...
I work for an ad agency and we are doing a promotion that involves a dime store balsa glider like the one pictured below.

I have been asked to make one rocket powered. I would rather...
Awesome. Your son is a man after my own heart. Fly it high and fly it hard.
Our next flight is Memorial Day weekend. Going to put it up on at least a 5-grain J with a camera on board.
I have learned, oh too late, to do the same.
My battery is heavily secured in the bay. The problem was that the 9v connectors, which snap in place, came loose.
I don't have RockSim. do a screengrab from the image, paste it into Windows Paint, and save it as a jpeg file.
Oh yeah. I'm surprised it survived. No damage to it, though
Flew my Gizmo for the second time. This time on a CTI K454. A lot of motor for a little rocket. After a cloudy day the sky cleared and made for a spectacular flight. Unfortunately, the battery came...
The forum says the attachment is invalid.
Took to the air yesterday. Flew great on a CTI I287 Smoky Sam. I had a P-nut recording altimeter keeping record. For some reason I lost power to my Adept 22 so the motor charge deployed the drogue...
Going back to the fins...You are going to want at least 1/16" G-10. It would be better to have 3/32". Those things are raked back real far and at mach speeds even 1/8" plywood fins are going to rip...
Following all safety guidelines doesn't mean we can't have any fun. It just means we have fun in different ways. 99.9999% of the time, a rocket flying into a cloud is not going to cause any harm. But...
Hmm. That creates an interesting quandry. Does CAR recognize NAR/TRA L1 certifications? Should they? I have my NAR L2 (only missed one question on the test), and since I passed a test, it should be...
The RSO can and should set a ceiling (ours has) when clouds come in. When that happens you fly with lower power motors or change tactics (i.e., saucers and Mars Landers). We fly at a small airport so...
True, but this works for most L2 flights. Even at falling from 4,000', your rocket is at or very close to terminal velocity. Damage on the ground isn't going to be much less than damage on the ground...
The very simplest form of redundancy is to leave the motor ejection charge in the rocket. I do that with all of my DD rockets. That way at the very least, the rocket separates and comes down at 50-60...
Not yet. I have 2 other projects ahead of this one for our upcoming launch at Geneseo. Plus a wild thought just hit me on this one and I think I have the Kahunas to actually do it. The Aft centering...
I would stick with your initial design and on your first launch, use an away cell if you have one. 500' from the flightline instead of 250' lessens the likelihood of it coming down behind it and...
Just for grins I designed and simmed a second stage. The second stage can take up to a 54mm L.

Your Total NS are not accurate. An H motor has at least 160 total NS and no more than 319. I went to the Cesaroni site and pulled accurate totals for 3-grain CTI H motors.
H54 - 167.7
H87 - 167.9...
It has been a while since I posted on this thread, but I wanted to show off my nose cone electronics. This is a universal component that I will take off and use for several different rockets. The base...
I was 13 years old and my dad got out his father's circular hand saw to cut some lumber for a project. He started on a piece of wood, and wasn't cutting it very well. He said to me, "I think Dad's...
One thing for sure...it will be the prettiest L3 attempt to ever fly. Eat a cosmic cucumber for good luck.
