About Thorfire
Biography:
Hi!

A loooong time ago I was launching Estes rockets when I was a kid. The biggest thing we had back them was an Estes D-12. Three years ago my son found some of my old rockets and wanted to do his science fair project launching rockets. I did a quick look online for an altimeter, thinking there had to be something better than what I had in 1980. It only took a few seconds to find the Apogee website, and high powered rocketry. Last year my son was launching an Aerotech Initiator with a Altus Metrum in it. This year we joined Tripoli and he’s launching mid power again while I’m working on getting certifications to stay one step ahead of him. We’re flying with Tripoli Minnesota http://www.tripolimn.org/ A month and a half ago I picked up a research case off the rocketry forum (75mm/5500). There are several members of the group up here I plan looking to as mentors to learn the art of building motors. My son already has plans for next year’s science fair project - we picked up a clearanced out LOC Magnum kit at the local hobby store, and he’s going to do his project on air starts. MY goals for 2016 are to fly a level three project on a Wildman kit (probably the Interceptor 98 I picked up on it’s introductory special), fly the Contrail hybrid I have, and fly and experimental motor.
