The Radical Rocketeers have scheduled a bonus launch date, Saturday August 24, 2013, from 9am to 4pm, weather permitting. The field is located in Great Meadows, NJ, just minutes from I-80 exit 19, in northwestern NJ. An FAA waiver will be in effect for high power flights up to 5000 feet. The range will also be open for low and mid power flights. For more info see the club website at https://www.radrocketeers.org. Hope to see you there!

We are a GO for our Saturday August 24th launch! The forecast is for mainly sunny skies, pleasant temperatures and light breezes. Sounds fantastic! So gather your rockets and come join us for some fun!

The launch starts at 9am and runs until at least 4pm. The high power waiver will be open from 10am to 4pm. Just a reminder, Jose from Heavenly Hobbies isn't able to attend this launch. He'll be back at our next launch. So be sure to bring all you need to fly, or find a buddy at the field who can probably help you out.

Directions to the field and other info can be found on our website at https://www.radrocketeers.org

Hey Jim, sent you 2 PM's after you had replied earlier. Just want to be sure you see them.

I'll be there. I have quite a few AT 38 mm loads. If anyone is in need and wants to buy or possibly trade?
I'm looking for an Aeropack 54mm threaded body "P" version.

Getting our stuff ready to go right now, looks like it's going to be a perfect day to launch! See ya there-

Great launch today! We put up a number of low power birds and were thrilled by a good many high power flights from others. Unfortunately our day ended poorly as my Mercury Redstone decided to make like the real thing and took a water landing in the creek behind the flight line! It hopefully should be salvageable and all in all still a great day launching. Did the power company ever come to retrieve the rocket that landed across those power lines? I nearly drove into the parachute on my way to buy some corn from the farmer, it was hanging so low.

This was a great day for flying!
I was able to fly a ton of LPR stuff and then top it off with The argent and the D region tomahawk on a G71R and E18W respectively
(Thanks Ted!!)
It was too bad that his rocket got stuck across the power lines; he had a really great flight..
Did the power company ever come take care of it?

Hey Nute. Nice meeting you today. I will post pictures shortly.

Nice meeting you today GlennW. You had some really nice flights, sorry about your Redstone. My funnel rocket went up nice, had a hard landing which broke the airframe. Fixable but will require some engineering. :)

Had a great time today. Can't wait for September I can stay the whole day.

Got a video of my I161 flight on a PR Little John.

Thanks for coming out guys! It was a really nice day. A good measure of that was that I finally rolled back into the house from the launch after 9 tonight! The breeze was the only thing that was a little higher than expected today, but as is typically the case, by late in the day what breeze there was faded away. It was great to meet you Bob! Thank you for the great pictures and the rocket. :)

As for Teddy's rocket which landed on the power line, we contacted the power company from the field and they finally did get there by late afternoon. His rocket was rescued by the crew and is now back safe in the hands of its owner. :)

As usual, I always bring far more rockets with me than I will ever fly. I like options though. Today I only got two modest flights in the air. The first one was a chad staged C11-0 to C11-7 24mm min diameter rocket. Unfortunately the upper motor didn't light and the rocket came in ballistic. Only a lightweight paper body rocket, it will be a cheap repair. Thankfully my tracker and altimeter on board didn't get trashed. My next planned flight for this rocket was a D12-0 to E9-8, but that has to wait until it is repaired and we get another really clear day. I also flew my LOC Aura on an F59. That was nice and recovered across the farm thanks to my tracker on board. I never did get my Apogee Aspire up today on another F10-8, but that leaves something cool on the to-do list. The early breeze kept my from flying my G3 on a J400SS, but there were a lot of really cool rockets from others to watch. :)

For those following along at home, our next scheduled launch is Saturday September 14th. Along with sport low, mid and high power flying, we will also be hosting the Open Skies 2013 NAR Open Meet that day. Our next club meeting is Saturday September 7th. If the weather is nice on the 7th, we'll likely go to the field after the meeting for a few hours of flying.

Hope to see you all again soon! :)

What a great day,,,,,,,,
My flight on the Altitude Seeker went perfect except for the whole powerline fiasco.........
It was a high average impulse flight.....
My concern was everything in the av bay holding together for a 36 G launch.......
It was a beautiful flight,,,, straight as an arrow to 3358 ft.......
When we went over to the rocket on the power lines
we had a good laugh with the woman from the farm,,,,,,,
She said "there's hundreds of acres here,,,, how did you come down perfectly across the power lines" lol
Everyone had such a wonderful day,,,,,,
It was really nice finally getting to meet Bob (isobig),,,,,,,,
And Phil,,,,, what a smokin flight for your level 1 cert on that I 161 W,,,,,,,,,,
Picture perfect and beautiful,,,,,,,I had a different perspective,,,
from up the road where my rocket was hanging across the power lines,,,,,lol,,,,,,,
What a dynamite day,,,,,,,,,
They should all be so nice............

Glad you got your rocket back. And thank you that flight could not have been more perfect. Really enjoyed my first day at RR and can't wait for Sept. Working on my D payload Altitude now.
