As much as I'd like to be down there to see Jim fly something besides a sparkie, not happening this month....my son's baseball team made it to the championship game on Saturday.
I'm coming down in July though to get me some of that nice SC heat. Hope to see a lot of you down there then.

Looks like the storm will be behind us on launch day. Unfortunately for those of us going south on Friday, we'll be dealing with driving through it. I say this because I don't drive at night if I can help it and I wanna avoid rush hour in Columbia SC. This means my start will be around 2 PM...UGH!
If this were a holiday weekend I'd expect the worse for traffic. Being a tropical storm, I expect worserer.

I leave by 8:30am and am at the field by 11:00. An easy drive!

Gotta get back to prepping now!

And miss Friday night events at the hotel? Have I been missin something? Saturday night at House Of Pizza is usually a blast.

I don't eat at night so I don't know about that. I do know that the hotel rooms us in the back for good reason. If you haven't attended, you should. Room to room events are fairly open door and the party gets down in the parking lot. At least it did last year.

Well it is 10:30 and I can't decide on making the trip or not. My sons graduation was tonight and I am sort of tired. I hate making the trip if there is going to be bad weather.

The weather Saturday was great but a bit breezy. And the wind was blowing a lot of rockets into what got named, The Mud Bog." An area right behind us that had been freshly prepped (it's a sod farm) and was about 8" deep in soft sandy mud about 1/4 mile in each direction (guessing here). Mud retrieval was on a great many folks 'had to' list. Sunday was a tiny bit more humid, winds in the opposite direction..THANKFULLY. Great flying both days and the rain was on it's way around 1:30 this afternoon. Most folks were gone by 2:00 I suspect. I'm sure other will be weighing in at some point. Tom Binford and I took a bunch of videos so there will be some postings at some point.

I plan on being there in July. With my sons graduation and not sure what the weather was going to do , I sat this one out. For July I am thinking about a Hypertek M in my modified Intimidator. I have a research Smokey SRB J-399 and K-531 ready that I cast a couple weeks ago. One of those will go in my ARCAS before I retire it for a new paint job.

Enjoyed the weekend! Was great to see friends Old and new!
Thanks for the memories!!

...and perhaps a new friend who happens to be OLD!

Overall, it was a really good weekend of flying. Hey...six recovered out of seven launched...it could have been worse! I'm not sure that there's a more friendly and helpful group of fliers out there. Thank you to all who make me feel so welcome.

It's great to see multiple L1 certs each month, too...a sure sign of great things to come!

Cheers,
Michael

Sorry I missed it guys. I am in Amsterdam. I will be there in July. Cross you fingers, I will be home tomorrow.

Does anybody know whose rocket it was that carried the rail up about 100 feet before dropping it in "the bog"? That and Gary's screaming lawndart were the most memorable flights of the weekend.

Those were the 'moments'..Was it yours or Gary B's Mega Der Red Max that had the last second from lawn dart parachute deployment? That was a heart stopper...And now, brag time, my daughter, Heather, got her L1 Saturday! :D

Here is the vid..You Tube conversion makes the last bit of the video all dark:mad:..Estimate about 2200 feet..Successful recovery on a DRY patch of sod!:D
