....looking scratcher.
Felt like building something.Something not too involved.
I still have a load of BT-55s and a few more of those pointy 55 PNCs.
The "fins" were made from a leftover strip of label papered 3/32? balsa. All 8 are the same.
Thro in a couple pieces of BT-20 , 2 little pointy BNCs, and a PTC and there ya have it.
Its all tacked together with thick CA.
I got a few fillets to do.
Might ad something else here or there. Hard telling not knowing...It seems I misplaced the instructions.
I guess its time for a "Walk About".
Anywhoo-For your viewing pleasure,I included a few pictures.
As the title reads....

Oh-sure Big "D" ,laugh it up on my account.
What,Im funny?
Im here to amuse you?
Nice guy!
Watch your toes ...Wise guy

I like it--I like it a lot !! The ring reactor thingy is cool. You might need some kind of thingamajigs on the sides and maybe a doobaflatchy on the bottom but I think your real close. Have a cup of java in the morning with some marshmellons and farknars--it'll come to you !!

No new news,I have a few ideas for some more detail, but I want to put the pigment to it (main body) first. That aint happening with the current weather.
Ill paint all the lugs and other small detail parts separate and then stickem on with CA.
As far as a name...
I like "ταχύς"
or something of that source...Tachus,Tachyon,Tachista,ect,meaning quick, fast, speedy.

That is one of the coolest scratch builds I've seen in a long time. It's one of those "looks like it's moving fast even when it's sitting still" rockets.

Nice eye for design.

Thanks!
It does look fast.
I did get some primer on it last eve.
Im not sure on what colors to use.
I really dont want to use black.
I have a brandy new can of Dupli-color "Blue Met" something????
I may shoot it with the blue pigment and see how it looks.
I like the DP laquer cuz its a breeze to redo.
If I dont like the looks of the blue,Ill just shoot over it and wont worry about peeling, dimples, blisters, ect.
Anywhoo- Im looking to build one that looks like this........

Thats reason enough.

Well,I put the DP Blue Met pigment to the stripped down body.(lastnight)
For whatever reason,I sees that the fillets where blistering up.
Stopped spraying and let it dry lastnight and today.
Tonight I started to (YAWHOOOOOOOOO) sand it all down.
WICKED PISSA FUN!
Anywhoo- Im not really a fan of Blue rockets and not sure why I even did what I did did.
Ill make it work. I have some plastic pieces and parts that I'lll go thru and use to add some more detail.
The NC is darker cuz I laid down some black first then the blue.

Wondered what happened to all those launch lugs- now i know! Very nice job!

Ya,they(lugs) came in handy for this build.
Thanks for sending them and all the other goodies.
One of these days I'll get going on that Warp 11 clone.

Another winning design, Scotty! Looks great! Love the blue metallic.

I agree with the thingamajigs, but I'd go with a doohickey on the bottom. Everyone knows doohickeys are more aerodynamic than doobaflatchies. Duh. :eyeroll:

Great design. Congrats!

Love the name, and even the metallic blue!

This is exactly the type of project that makes me wish Open Rocket supported tube fins / exterior pods:sad:

Well, I got the sanding done, re-primed and re- pigmented.
Its a bit darker now cuz I went with the gray primer.
First try was over white primer.
I wanted to tone it down a bit.
Applied Charcoal Gray Met to the small NCs and some pieces parts.
Also doing the Lug Reactor tubes in same color.
Keeping it simple.

It flew.!
Sent it up on a B6-4.
Windy day,but it came back OK.
'bout the only thing else I did build wise was finish putting on the lugs and I added a ring around them.
I like it,looks classy to me-self.

Okay- it'sflown- time for the museum! That bird would totally be a shelf queen in my world. That charcoal grey met makes it pop! What brand? Uber cool, my friend! Hey-how (or where) did that tail cone come into being? I really need to know as I need something like that right NOW!

Thanks for the "cool".
The TC is one from a BullPup..A 55-50 (?)
I thru a paper 20 to 50 CR on the end of the 20 MMTube.
Set that in the plastic tailcone and poured in a bit of epoxy to lock it all together.

YEA BABY, That's what we're talkin bout--nice--glad the flight went well. NOW--Shelf that baby and move on--don't want no dings on da girl---pull her out once a year just to show off !!!
