I finally got my LOC Precision Shadowhawk modeled in RockSim last night. This launch is for my L1 Cert this weekend on an Aerotech H128W. The RockSim model says that the rocket is overstable. I am learning but do not know what, if any, problems this might cause. The RockSim launch sim appears to be successful though and I have run it several times, varying wind conditions a bit as well. Rocket is 62" length. CG shows to be 37.7" and I have checked by hand but didn't exactly measure when I did so. I will do that tonight. CP shows to be 49.9". Margin is 3.29 Overstable. I might be worrying about nothing but the drive is over 4 hours and will require an overnight stay so I am trying to give myself the best shot possible at a successful flight.

Thank you,

Curtis

Overstable means it may weathercock into the wind. I have a few "overstable" rockets and never had any problems.

Measure and mark where Rocksim puts your CP. With the rocket fully loaded and in 'at-launch' state, find and mark the CG. Compare the marks. If you're still outside 1.5x dia, add some disposable mass to the top of the motormount. I really wouldn't sweat overstable, however.
