Less than a month away!

Excited for this launch. Still in the process of repairing my Competitor 5, Broken Arrow needs some paint when the weather gets a little better, and some last minute mixing!

Yup soo looking forward to it. Dan I'll be flying the soon to be released BROKEN ARROW 5 on a CTI
M1560WT.

I try to get in 4-5 flights on Fri when there are fewer flyers. Sat and Sun can be rough with longer lines.

The 5"-98mm birds are nice. My Competitor 5 will be flying as well, assuming I get around to mixing the other half of the motor.

All signed up and hotel booked! Now to see what to bring - lots of dust to blow off......

Just got in some nice LOKI reloads and a new 38-740 motor. Cleaned up all my motor cases and sorted out the reloads left in the box. Now to go get some rockets back into flying shape to put up in the sky. I tell you I got butterflies in my stomach already and still three weeks to go! Reminds me of how nervous I was at my first Red Glare....its GREAT!

Can't wait to get to the field and start the madness all over again!

Yo Tom

Got an I110 and a spool ready?

Since you didn't get back to me on it, I didn't order the 110. I can cobble a spool together, if Ken is going to be at Red Glare I could get a 110 off of him. Think?

Hey, by the way, I thought you weren't going to RG. Change your mind or am I did my brain just mess up again? Too much paperwork turns a mind to mush!

Tom

Ground testing "Agent P" my modular Gizmo XL Dual Deploy tomorrow. Still needs paint and some snappy StickerShock decals.....

Look out Mikey "Doofenshmirtz" Spain...we know there's a certificationator.........

3 Weeks from today! we do it again!! CTI O3400IM Hoping for a MUCH! better turn out though LOL.

9 days till Red Glare and nobody's talking? Also if anyone needs Blastcaps come see me on the flight line I'll have all 3 sizes in stock.

I decided on flying my 3" Black Darkstar on a K2045 to a Pro 54 5-6GXL reload in the sustainer. Im booking the hotel now, and I am pre registered. Anybody else got any news?

I have my Broken Arrow XP almost loaded up and ready for a shake down flight on Saturday. All that's left to do is the mount the BRB 900 unit, the RRC3, ejection charges and rivets. Chute (60" Skyangle) is in a Skyangle Free Bag, Rocketman R3 Pilot chute, and a ShadowAero Flash streamer at apogee.

Shakedown will be at CTRA on a Loki J820 star grain. Won't go too high, but will put the recovery and tracking system through their paces before the 14,000' flight at Red Glare.

I also built a 76-1700 Sparky (K500 or so) and 76-2800 White (L900) for the Broken Arrow. Competitor 5 will not be coming, as I never got around to mixing the other half of the motor or repairing the broken fin from last time. Odds are I will bring my Intimidator 3 with a 54-2000 Purple K1000 instead.

My planned flights weather permitting.

  • PR 1/3 Scale Nike Smoke - CTI L645G - 6875'
  • DOMINATOR 4 - CTI L1720WT - 8760'
  • RW Broken Arrow 5 XP - CTI M1560WT - 8500'
  • Scratch 6" HELLFIRE - CTI M1830CS - 9600'
  • ALBATROSS - CTI O3400IM - 14,000'

Weather permitting I will make the trip to my first RG. I am sure it will be quite the event. Most likely just spectating and getting some items from vendors.

I am currently in my Jedi Mind Trance, with my project I will have never flown higher or faster. This will be a personal best on all accounts and in the end should all go as planned I am hoping to recive that pin with a 3 on it. I can't wait to see the great folks from MDRA, last time I was chmping at the bit, this time I am calm and collected and methodical to make sure i's are dotted and t' are crossed.

We've had too much wind lately, so I think I'm probably not going to fly the motor I had intended. An EX 114mm full N 4900 Sunrise 13... it likely wouldn't get to fly. So I'll probably be casting up one of the smaller 88mm N motors instead, somewhere around an N3800 to N4000, somewhere around 12300Ns, depending on propellant choice (Sunrise 13 or 14). If it is windy it still won't get to fly, but at least conditions won't have to be nearly perfect! It drops the expected altitude to 12K but unfortunately won't take the rocket supersonic. I was looking forward to that.

Tough call... go for broke and very possibly not have a launch window but a very spectacular flight if it goes (my first supersonic and it isn't a small rocket), or go more conservative and have better odds of flying?

What would you guys do?

Gerald

Gerald, Bring both rockets and both motors. I know its not the best idea but at least you'll be able to fly. I like going to the field with a plan and sticking to it but the weather we can't control. I think it was Red Glare 12 when the waiver got dropped to 6K due to upper winds so everyone should plan ahead.

Looking forward to next weekend. I hope to be bringing the majority of the sunday school class I teach, along with their 4" diam, 9ft. rocket "Crusader" to go up on a decent sized K.
Also launching a 4" Vindicator, 4" PR Patriot, and a Darkstar Jr. riding a Loki blue.

Got a little more on the new stuff to finish, but not much.
Go over a the old stuff one more time...

Hopefully have it all together by the weekend....

Fixed a zipper in my 7.5" Little John, and planning 2-3 flights with different EX 98mm M's: a red, purple, and a thundering sparky.

Have a couple of EX 54/2550 motors that will go in my Eagle Claw and maybe a new 4" blue tube rocket. Will also bring a collection of other stuff, only 1/2 of which usually flies....

Really looking forward to it.

One flight planned for myself so far. My SM-XMR on a CTI M2250. This will be the 5th flight of this rocket.

I'll be picking up one of our Aussie brethren from BWI on Friday night. Nic and his wife are coming all the way for Aus, in large part to fly at Red Glare! He'll be flying his "Mad Max" min. dia. N5800 rocket on a weenie KBA M1450. :p Nic didn't get a chance to fly at BALLS last year due to the cloud cover on Sunday. He left the rocket with me until BALLS 2013, but decided to make it to RG next weekend to have a "test flight" of sorts.

Look for us on the flight line and come say hello!
