OMG I was so waiting for a thread like this

As Cletus says.. "My time to shine"

Neither of us ever wanted children, but live like kids and adore our pets. I have an arcade and play with rockets. Had my vasectomy last year and love it. She had pets her whole life, I had to move out from home to get some.

We live in an area with an insane feral cat population. Not a day goes by that I do not see at least 6 strays wandering the neighborhood. I am mostly a dog guy and would scare off the cats. A new batch of kittens was hanging around my house and sunning on the neighbors porch one day. I tried to scare this one cat away, but he cared not a bit. I got closer and took this pic.

He seemed to not care a bit. I approached and petted him. he climbed on me and wanted love. Called for the wife and we took him in.

After proper introduction with a kennel to our dogs he finally got to meet Fuggles, a dog I trained to ride with me on my bike from the egg. The look on her face was priceless and they still are not sure of each other to this day. Love that pic.

For those first 3 days Kittythunkle loved me. I thought he was a girl until the vet showed me my first cat penis :surprised:

Since then he really does not care for me at all, but will rub against my back after I get out of the shower and sit on the bed wondering WTF I am doing with my life. The wife calls him kitty and is completely controlled by him. I call him Thunky and shame him as much as possible.

The dude has cat shelving all over the house and 3 hammocks to chill in. Keeps him up and away from the dogs so he can get away. Before the remodel he could make it across two rooms with over 40 feet of wall mounted cat shelving.

IMG_2283 by beerorkid, on Flickr

He has his own little door to make it into the bedrooms that we close so the dogs are not in there when we are away. He is great friends with our dumber dog I will show in another post.

The wife wanted me to post this pic. It pretty much sums up Thunky. After $500 emergency vet visit for stones in his bladder. Most expensive free cat... He eats only Rx food now >.<

We have to take him to an all feline vet and he is labeled aggressive. His first time at one of my parties he made 3 people bleed. A Dbag for sure.

Dogs post next

Awesome. We have one dog that had to go through severe training and I can control her with sign language. It is cool they get it. Ollie looks like a great pup.

That is Cloe, my first dog after moving out of my parents. She was simply awesome and had to be connected to a human at all times. So cuddly. Her spleen exploded at 9 years and we burned a ton of cash trying to save her while working multiple service jobs. It was a hard lesson.

IMG_4028 by beerorkid, on Flickr

Maggie was an old roommates dog that got given to us. She failed as a hunting dog and got beat a lot (not by me). She was always afraid, but the sweetest thing ever. She lived a long life filled with total love and finally died from a cancerous spleen. The vet came to our house to put her down.

FRICKING SPLEENS

Best fishing dogs. They would just watch the bobber while I sat in the sun and drank, A grrr meant I was getting a bite

2 days after Cloe died we picked up Fuggles from a neighbor who wanted to get rid of puppies. She is Chesapeake retriever, Chow, and Sharpei. Vet told us we need to get training right away because they are all dominant breeds. We did a bit, and then a fight between two dogs injured my wife really bad. She went through insane training and we can now control her with hand signals and she obeys very well. I taught her to ride along with me on my bike and she is a natural.

I rank that pic as one of my greatest achievements. She hates costumes and is so squirmy, but that day I won. I WON

We made a huge mistake and picked up Zobert from a local no kill shelter. She was so cute, but we believe has mental issues. Many people think their dog is dumb, but this dog is straight up mental. She has about a 2 second attention span. It is simply astonishing. We are great trainers, can control the other dog with hand signals, but it took about 3 months to get her to sit on command 1/3 of the time. She is simply untrainable.

Her mom is part dalmation, but we have no clue other than that. Maybe some terrier?

She will bark at me when I come back into a room seconds later like I am a stranger. It took about 4 months for us to get her to stop obsessing over her shadow. To say she is special is being nice. We are stuck with her though >.<

Just watch:

At least I get to shame her constantly.

I cannot remember a day when I have not wanted to punch that dog in the face, but never do. She is so insanely annoying and 50 pounds of pure irritating unawesomeness. The cute hardly makes up for it, but is her only redeeming trait.

Her and the cat are good friends, but the cat gets chased a lot because Zobert forgets we have a cat. Hence the cat shelving.

We are strictly shelter mutts only. All dogs deserve a chance and they get spoiled rotten for all their lives. I asked about having the spleen removed from our two current dogs, but the vet just looked at me strange. WTF?

Holly ( see https://www.rocketryforum.com/showthread.php?34477-Pets )

You have to clap real loud or stomp your foot to her attention (deaf at 10ft), to see (cataracts) where the noise came from she spins around and sometimes falls over (Peripheral Vestibular Syndrome) then I can get her attention
with hand signals I taught when she was young.

Kind of ironic that I see this post today. My youngest pup Angel passed today.Angel-06_n.jpgAngel Pup 2001_89_n.jpgGood times Algel with Shelby. Shelby is still with me after 17 yearsS&A_0023.jpg

Here's Rudy. 5 year old Coton de Tulear. 18 pound dog that has a Napolean complex...I'm sure he thinks he's a Great Dane, and is vicious from 10 feet...he'll growl until you take a step towards him, then he'll run to re-establish that 10 foot cushion...for your protection, of course... :D

IMG_0249.jpg

This is his, "I'm SOOO glad you're home, Daddy! Please oh please oh please pet me so I can piddle on your foot because I am SOOOOOOO excited!!!"

Here's a shot from shortly after we got him...back in his puppy days...

Our Oscar Penndragon (we decided he needed a full name) often attends local rocket launches with us. Here's a video from a recent launch in which he makes an appearance:

Oscar's a rescue dog. He's got one lame leg from an long-past injury which heal incorrectly. But, he doesn't let it slow him down.

He loves riding in the car. When we turn the corner and he sees us arriving at our rocketry club's launch site, he goes crazy with excitement.

My black cat Solomon isn't feeling well. Doesn't eat much or drink. Very much isolates himself. We noticed this a 3-4 days ago. Taking him in to the Vets today to see what can be done to get him back to his normal self. I hope it's something that a few shots can fix.

This picture was only taken maybe two weeks ago

Sorry AB, good luck, hope you get good news

Just got back from Vets. My cat had a 104 temperature. A few injections to help with his fever and some medicine I have to give him twice and day and should be up to his normal self in a couple days.

Right now I just have a yellow tabby who runs whenever you get out the camera, and my best friend ( as long as I have food) the "dirty ole egg suckin' Corgi "Jack Emrys". not only is he the best dog I've ever had - he's also the most expensive. I guess you get what you pay for.

hard to photograph chickens on the move - and they never stand still.

Last night my other pup Shelby passed. She was close to 18 years old. I had the pleasure of being her guardian for 16 years and 7 months, more than a third of my adult life. Shelby is the pup on the left side of the couch. Angel passed on Feb. 8th, Shelby almost exactly 3 months latter. RIP.

I'm so sorry. They were both beautiful. I've often wondered why dogs, which can be the most wonderful things in our lives, are taken from us so quickly.

Thanks 2K. I think the reason why they live shorter lives is so that we don't go first and leave them abandoned and or hurt/grieving for us. I had one girlfriend that told me, that if I died, Shelby would cease to want to live, because she never took her eyes off of me. Again thanks for your remarks.

Took on one of these Saturday night.
Adirondack-Black-Bear-.jpg

Good thing she has thick fur, she has a sore shoulder from getting swiped. The bear smell was horrific, she got a bath a 1:30 am.

Buckshot Jones aka Buddy, I brought home Buddy at 6 weeks old, my wife was going through cancer treatments at the time and I credit Buddy for helping her to heal. He was my wifes dog and stuck to her like glue. Probably the best dog we ever owned, very good natured and well behaved. After years of mixed health problems we had to put him down in October 2011, he was only 13. One of the hardest things we ever had to do.

Betty Lou aka Bitsy Poo, this sweet Basset Hound was the canine love of my life. She was a 55 pound lap dog. It broke my heart when she was diagnosed with cancer, we lost her in 2006.

015.jpg107.jpg Bitsy getting some air.jpg
This is Itsy Bitsy aka Bits, she lives for the chase. She will play fetch with anything, frisbees, balls, stuffed toys, sticks, it doesn't matter, if you throw it she will retrieve it. Her favorite toys are frisbees which she will catch. As far as she's concerned every toy in the house belongs to her. She just turned six in February.

015.jpg
Teeny Weeny, this little sweety has done her best to become the new canine love of my life. She demands affection on a regular basis, like every hour or so. She crawls into my chair and drapes herself across my chest, laying her head under my chin and nuzzling my neck. She will lay there getting petted, if you stop petting her she will nuzzle your hand demanding that the petting continues. It's hard to say no to such a loving little pup. She just turned five in February.
