Couldn't resist adding my own epic lawn dart of 2012. I don't know which is better...the rocket or my son with his upside down safety glasses :)
Thanks to RocketGuy101 for his fine photo skills!

My flyin buddy had a tough year. The Initiator, now named "Digger" has lawn darted 3 times and will be ready to fly again soon. He is giving up on AT delays and has installed an Avbay. At least he keeps smiling. HAV

Great darts! Out here, the ground is so hard they wouldn't stick in like these...they would just pancake. :y:

Iv tried to forget.

8,100ft to rock hard playa.

The motor for the rocket is longer than what you see. 38/1080case.

Rest in Little Ity Bity Tiny PVC Pieces.

She's all better now.

Proof that anything is possible in the world of MicroMaxx.

2-stage MMX that failed to stage.

You people grow your rockets??!!
And here I was putting in all this effort to build them.

I don’t have a picture of my best “Lawn Dart” as the rocket is stuck in what is probably two feet of muck. . .Under of several feet of water.

Well its not 2012 but close enough.... 7/11/11

I don't have a picture of this scenario, so I made this to demonstrate. MWP X, Gizmo XL DD, 8" diameter x 6ish feet long. Result looked something like this:

Wasn't Griffin's bird, I just used his just because.

Here's mine.
The airframe was phenolic, and it simply disintegrated - tons of tiny shards scattered all over. The actual nosecone survived the impact into very hard soil, but the shoulder mushroomed. Fincan and fins also largely survived.

Here's what she looked like in better days (and with a better camera than the crappy one on my cellphone that I used for the crash photo):

Fortunately or maybe unfortunately I had none in 2012.. But! I only launched one rocket in December.

Now I'm planning to get my level 1 cert shortly and hopefully a level 2 shortly after that. Let's hope I do not produce any lawn darts.

1st of 3 Big Daddy deaths over the next months. This one went up, arced over and came in ballistic. Ejection charge went off, but the nose stuck.

Just putting together one now with quad 24mm's..

6 days past 2012, but I got my first one

Nephew came over with the rocket he built and we went a launching. I put a B6-4 in his and it was the best flight of the day. He had a blast.

I apparently wrapped the chute wrong and it never deployed. Went way off course and I flung out a good 3 inch snow plug from the tube.

Lucky I got vid of it though
