Our next CMASS (http://www.cmass.org/) launch is Saturday, September 19th and is sponsored by FlisKits (we've picked up the field expense) for the FlisKits 7th Anniversary launch!

This launch is at our Amesbury field (370 acres of fun!) where we can fly some big stuff (up to K impulse) and all the way down to micromaxx. We have 11 pads and typically 3 away cells for HPR. One of the most efficient launches you will attend. On a good day we'll average a launch every 45 seconds or so :)

FlisKits will be there with a full booth, prizes and the infamous CAKE

This year, like last, it will be a round layer cake, chocolate with chocolate fudge center layer and butter-cream frosting on the outside.... mmmmmmmm (oh yeah, hot dogs at noon too!)

Come on out to the launch, have fun, enjoy the cake and launch some rockets!

We will have the following:

Free kits (Lil' Guy) to the first 15 kids (under 16) who come to our booth
$75 gift certificate for whoever flys the most FlisKits kits for the day (scratch built kits made from FlisKits parts work too!)
Cake (can't forget the cake!)
Range box stickers for everyone attending!

Gonna be a good day!

Light one up for FlisKits in September!

Woohoo,
Been dying to goto a launch since I missed the last Amebury launch in july.I picked up some of the new pro 29 motors from Wildman at NERFF and plan on putting a few of those up.One thing I am wondering about is if the ematches they come with will fire with a perfectflight minitimer if so I might bring along my Cosmodrome Aerobee Hi for a flight on a couple of the pro 29's.I am also going to bring my 2 stage bt 70 based rocket that I built to stage aerotech 24mm motors after I test out a couple flights using the quest q2g2's to light a couple composites I think I will try that one staged from an E to E or maybe F to E depending on the wind.Other then those two possible whatever else I bring may go up as well.

Cool Which Pro29's will you be flying? Should I bring that Graduator :P

I plan to fly mostly Low and mid power, mostly Fliskits :P. I will be doing at least two HPR launches, my "All Smiles" UFO and my Ladyrobin 2.0. "All Smiles" will probabily be flown with an I285GG, and I am thinking either a I800 or I540 for the first flight of the Ladyrobin 2.0

I picked a couple of the F39's and an F59 and also a G SS and one of the white motors.I am still up in the air about the Graduator it will all depend on if I have enough extra money by then.

Yes I know that sparkys aren't allowed at our launches which I can understand no need to go setting the field on fire.I have been waiting patiently since NERFF to put something up on one of these motors its getting harder and harder to not launch one but now that schools back in the field I fly in has been turned back into a soccer field :bang:

Yes, the mini-timer will fire those ematches.
I use the same one in my aerobee-hi.

Little over a week away. I have 3 new proto-types to fly, perhaps as many as 6 by the time next week arrives. I have several old standards to fly but hope to get some good launch data on some maiden flights for upcoming products.

WHO'S UP FOR A Frick-n-Frack DRAG RACE????

The folks in our club love getting sneak peeks like this of new products :)

Cake is ordered and will be ready Friday afternoon.

Trying to get HobbyTown USA to join us. I will keep folks posted on that.

As always, if you want anything from the FlisKits parts or accessories area please send me an email with your request and I will be sure to package it up and bring it with me. Otherwise, all I will have on hand are rocket kits. (I've already got 3 special orders, so)

Also, I was asked earlier if purchases on the field count towards the drawing for the $75 gift certificate. YES THEY DO! I will have you put your name, email and phone number on the receipt so that I can record your sale in the drawing.

Praying for good weather, a large turnout, and LOTS of FlisKits kits in the air! :)

I just got in a new toy that I will be bringing to the launch too. :) My wife picked this up for me for my birthday next week (Well I picked it out and she said I could get it.) I tried to take my own picture of it but its too small and didn't come out well but it should be fun to play with.

Now to figure out what I am going to use as the carrier rocket that I won't lose it on.

Great! Just great! Now we're all going to have to look presentable. You know how difficult that's going to be.

Now if I could only get you to strap that on the Aerobee Hi. Looking down would be a great shot of the booster seperation....

You can hear the F20 chuff a couple of times before it starts. The camera is looking out the side and I had two chutes on the payload section in an attempt to keep the camera aimed at the ground. The 1/5 speed part is a little more watchable.

It was a good day, but SO windy! Very cool too (Kathy was freezing most of the day...)

We had a pretty good crowd though. At one point I counted 88 people spread out across the field, preping models and enjoying the day.

A slew of FlisKits models took to the air on this, our 7th anniversary! Doug Gardei won the "Most FlisKits kits flown" contest with 17 flights and selected an Adfecta from our catalog (thanks Doug!). Also, special note, Doug was showing off the many FlisKits kits he got ready for this day and he did an incredible job on all of them! They all looked great!

We also had a bunch of happy faces all day long as we gave away Lil' Guy kits to the kids. Heck, we even had a teacher stop by and make a bulk pack purchase for a class!

We also had a box of discounted kits (damage to the header cards and I didn't want to re-bag'em...) that was a big hit. Heck, we had folks getting kits before we were even finished setting up :) It worked out well as we were able to get rid of over 20 kits that we won't have to re-bag now.

In all we had about 230 flights (I'm sure someone has the exact number). A slow day for a typical CMASS launch, but incredible considering the windy conditions. Also, I don't think many kits were lost, even with the wind.

Towards the end of the day the winds calmed down a bit. Enough for me to get 4 of my several new prototype kits in the air. The Goddard L-13 turned in a picture perfect flight. Mystic, not so much... :) Need a bit more fin area on that one. However the other two (names not yet determined) turned in beautiful flights (all on B motors). So I was feeling pretty good about that. I didn't launch my 3's a charm micro glider as it was just too windy (even when it calmed down...)

After hot dogs we served CAKE! Man, that was some good cake :) This cake has become tradition and based on forum feedback, email and the reaction on the field, legendary... :)

Special thanks to all the CMASS folks who helped make this a wonderful launch to help FlisKits celebrate our latest milestone. Thanks also to all who braved the cold and wind to enjoy a day of rockets in the great outdoors.

I'll try to get my photo album up later today. Also, I didn't get good launch shots of my proto's (too fast on the shutter). Anyone got good pix?

Here are a few pix from the day...

Now, on to NEMROC! :)

Looks like you all had a fun time! I didn't come up to Amesbury because I saw the weather report was showing winds around 18 mph...which is usually a low estimate for the farm...but otherwise it looked like a great day to fly. Of course today is perfect...CAVU with almost no wind....

Hope to see you all next time. I need to do a cert flight, too...seems my L1 lapsed last year when I'd let my NAR membership lapse. I'm current again though, so if weather permits I'll be ready to fly!

Besides being very windy, it was a great day to launch. I debated whether or not to bring my wool jacket. I am glad I did bring it. Temp wise it was to warm for it, but the strong wind made it colder, so I would be freezing without it. I flew 24 rockets, several of them took part in the fliskits contest.
Here is the rundown of what I flew, in no particular order:

Experiment B6-0 – This rocket is my version of the Estes Cato. It uses a booster motor, and when the motor burns out the rocket breaks up looking like it blew up. Worked perfectly and all the parts landed within the same general area.
Mudwasp – MM2 – Used my “flaspan” method to ignite the micro maxx motor.
UFF Odysseus A10-3T
Pheord x-150 C6-3
Tumbleweed 1/4A3-3T
Overdrive 1/2A3-2T
Whatchamacallit – A10-3T
Thingamagig B6-4
Triskelion A8-3
Flea A8-5
Rhino C6-5
Starload 3x D12-5 – Put three “Target” Golf Balls in the payload section to act as ballist. One of the shroud lines on the parachute snap loose. But it was still a safe recovery.
Rock Star C11-3
Drake C11-3
Stingray – B6-4 – I love how this rocket flies, looks like a real fighter blasting up to space :P
Avalear – A8-3
Herc V – B6-4 – Serious whip-lash and rocket shot downwind, however it landed within the short grass :)
Semi Sonic - B6-4 – Beta Test Kit I built :)
Preator II – B6-0/B6-4 Great liftoff but failed to stage. No damage to the sustainer.
Cheetah A8-0/A8-5
All Smiles – AMW I285GG
Sumo – KBA G135R
Ladyrobin 2.0 CTI I800-10 - Great flight. Lots of thrust to get it off the ground into the strong cross wind, weak enough I too keep the altitude low. Perfect flight and recovery
Esra Missile - 2x E9-6 – Had to replace the dual 24mm mount in this rocket due to a motor burning through the side during a previous flight. This rocket flies extremely well with dual E9’s

It really wasn't exactly spinning under thrust it was more like it snapped coming off the rail in the wind, that G83 almost seemed a bit underpowered not by much just a bit for that rocket. It is a damn nice video and a sweet little camera you came up with.
