Do we need a pmc forum?

I know this was discussed in the past, but it seems that since micromeister has gone on a PMC kick, there are now quite a number of PMC threads scattered about.

In fact, his builds has piqued my interest in this process and I have now acquired 3 plastic models to try it out on.

Should a PMC fourm be added?

In my opinion, no. The way I look at it, plastic models are a building material just like any other. Granted, we have a Card Stock Rocketry sub-forum, but I think because of its ease, simplicity and inexpensiveness, it is more widespread than PMC's.
Don't get me wrong, I recognize that PMC's are their own type of rockets and have a different set of complications and characteristics, but I don't think that it is a large enough division to have its own sub-forum.
I would say just put it in whatever category it falls under because of motor size. :)

I say yes. Any and all information is helpful in PMC. I have picked up good information from each build thread that has been posted here. I would like to see more. :2:

Speaking only for myself, I have no interest in it.

Others may want it.

While PMC does have it's own set of Characteristics & construction challenges, They are just Model Rockets. A bit heavier then normal but mod-rocs none the less.

While a bit special in that this extra mass needs be allowed for and additional precautions taken with first flights. That is they should always be test flown in as close to total isolation as possible. Once proven flight worthy and stable they are really no more "special" then any other Scale or Craftsmenship event or type model.

I'm one of those who build and fly PMC's just for fun flying where most only build them for NAR competitions. it's my belief they belong in the motor (power) class they fly with. be it Micro, LPR or MPR (clustered).

I have at least a dozen more PMCs in different sizes and motor configurations coming up in the next few months. Hope they are an inspiration to other Micro, LPR and Mid Power folks to give the specialty a try but I don't believe they need their own sub-forum.

Actually there is already a Plastic Model Conversion Gallery that would certainly fit that purpose.

That is one of the things Narams are unfortunately known for "The Dreaded Plastic Death Event".... and why I firmly believe PMC and Scale models for that matter, should be flown first and then judged for craftsmenship with damage being cumlative over all flights. That would certainly force the contestants into flight Testing before arriving at the Nationals making at least this RSO:cheers: happier.

I voted yes. I have limited interest but like what others do and think a place for them isn't extreme or anything.
