The loose one has some silicone on the bottom of the engine. I didn't attempt to remove it as I figured the new owner would best know how to remove it without scratching the engine. It's never had an igniter inserted, etc.

Are G80's really expensive up there? You can get four of them in the states for less than eighty bucks.

I was going by the invoice that was in the box with them, if they have come down in price since they were purchased I apologize, that's why I said OBO, I figured they might be over priced

I remember they were very difficult/impossible to get here after the big fire at AeroTech. If they've since been more available I was not aware because I've been out of the hobby since then :)

Just make an offer peeps, on what you'd like to pay and I'm good.

Actually Toysareforboys isn't that far off the mark. Bigger Aerotech's are rather pricey here in Canada. The Econojets are fairly inexpensive in comparison.

$120 for the works isn't unreasonable for all the G80's, extra igniters, nose cones, the Estes D12's and such.

That`s one reason I went to CTI reloads ,the cost was just too silly !

I`m still sitting on a stash of Es,Fs and Gs and hope to burn through them this season for once and for all.

YIKES!:y: Is it because they're imported?

Partly, but mostly because of the extra cost for bilingual packaging, border tariffs (free trade my a$$), taxes, and such. Shipping costs are actually the minor part of it, considering that both the Canadian Dollar and US Dollar are relatively close in value at the moment.

Sodmeister is correct as well with CTI motors. They are far better established here in Canada and the cost is considerably lower.

BUT, as I said before, $120 for all that Toysareforboys is selling isn't unreasonable at all.

Makes sense, we have just the opposite - CTI loads are a bit more than AT here.

Just a little history, re Aerotech product in Canada. We began importing mid and High Power expendables and reloads in 1993 for the first Sullivan Lake High Power launch(Alberta) in October 93, back then the difference on the Canadian/US dollar was something like 1.4 Canadian to 1 US greenback, so the imported product was expensive, but CTI did not exist at that time. Over the years the Canadian Dollar has reached par with the US, so now Aerotech 18-38 mm expendables and reloads are much cheaper than CTI of the same diameter, at 54mm and up the two manufacturers are essentially equal, so now it's a wash and really personal preference or vendor availability that supports sales. Current RMS 29mm reloads cost about 50% of the equivalent CTI unit.

The fire in 2001 (if I recall correctly) was the catalyst that really allowed CTI to overtake and surpass Aerotech in Canada, they were available, when Aerotech inventories dried up. In my experience of the Canadian High-Power scene, it has never been long term, there are very few modelers that remain from that 1993 period, and turnover is on about a four to five year cycle or basically the time required to go through the four high power levels. So when Aerotech dried up we lost a lot of long term fliers (and Aerotech users) and most of the new hobbyists went of course to CTI.
So for current Canadian market penetration CTI is top for High Power, and Aerotech top for Mid Power

The other thing that has hurt further penetration of Aerotech has been the shipping regs, other than their Hobby Line all High Power product is classed 1.3C, which requires trucking , and Hazmat charges so most cases the product was delivered direct to customers at a launch only. CTI had the financial resources and wherewithal to have even their larger reloads classed as 1/4C, vastly reducing the shipping cost, even though they still require Hazmat. This is why most Aerotech MidPower is seen and sold at the local Hobby retailer level.

Regarding imported product, yes if it is for commercial sale, it still requires bilingual labeling, which Aerotech provides free to dealers. There are no import duties for products, just the Canadian GST and I suppose Provincial Sales Taxes depending upon location of importation. The cost of an import permit is currently $160 Canadian Dollars from ERD, so needless to say it behooves the importer to bring in several thousand dollars worth of product, and this applies also to Estes and Quest motors. I have more background if anyone cares, but know this from working with and importing Aerotech from 1993 forward.

Personally I use all available motors, Estes, Quest, Aerotech and Cesaroni, but I import Aerotech for CAR/Tripoli High Power fliers in Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Yep, that sums it up nicely. When the 2001 fire hit, the variety of available & ERD-authorized AT motors had just started to grow (as I recall, no RMS hobby motors were on ERD's list until about then). Timing is everything!

I think it was only maybe 2006 or later that AT motors started to really re-appear up here. Even now, here in the east AT HPR motors are extremely rare (I have a set of 54mm hardware purchased at LDRS 24 that I've never used...)

Back on topic: good luck with the sale!
